WEB DEVELOPER
Applications are invited from persons with suitable qualifications to fill the position of “Web Developer” at the Group Digital Transformation Division (GDTD).
The jobholder is responsible for the development and enhancement of the organization’s web banking platforms, ensuring their responsiveness, efficiency, and superb user experience. This role involves close collaboration with other developers, product owners, designers, and stakeholders, utilizing best practices in web development to deliver secure and scalable digital banking solutions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Developing, maintaining, and enhancing high-quality, scalable, and secure web applications.
- Writing clean, maintainable and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
- Collaborating with product owners, designers and other developers to define and implement innovative features and functionalities.
- Participating in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve overall code quality.
- Developing and implementing unit and integration tests to ensure the reliability and robustness of web applications.
- Debugging and resolving application issues and optimizing application performance.
- Keeping abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies and best practices in web development.
- Suggesting and implementing new technologies and tools to enhance application quality and user experience.
- Consistently documenting code and maintaining comprehensive documentation of developed features and APIs.
- Contributing to the creation of technical specifications, user guides and other technical documentation.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The jobholder should have:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience working as a Web Developer
- Previous experience in the banking or financial sector. (Would be an asset)
- Proven experience as a Web Developer with a strong portfolio of developed web applications.
- Strong knowledge of database technologies (e.g., SQL, MongoDB) and web server technologies (e.g., Apache, Nginx).
- Experience with back-end programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, PHP, Node.js) and frameworks (e.g., Express, Django, Laravel).
- Proficient in front-end languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular).
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and experience with version control tools such as Git.
- Experience with containerization and cloud services (e.g., Docker, AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and Agile development methodologies.
