The successful candidate will have primary responsibility to effect repairs to plant equipment and components.

Main Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the selected candidate will:

• Set up components for welding according to specifications
• Weld and effect repairs to mining equipment eg. railcars and components as required.
• Fabricate and weld steel structures, frames, forms.
• Rebuild component parts such as trunnions, shafts, bearing housings, for machining.
• Perform jobs using oxy-acetylene torch, electrical welding, carbon arc, TIG and MIG welding and gouging rods.
• Analyze and interpret instruction manuals, parts lists and specifications to effect repairs.
• Perform all duties in accordance with the Company's safety procedures and regulations.

Required Competencies:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and charts demonstrating knowledge of welding symbols.
• Ability to use oxygen-acetylene cutting equipment to weld, braze, solder and cut materials for new construction or repair of plant equipment.
• Ability to do aluminum welding.
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Experience in using a variety of welding equipment and procedures
• Knowledge of basic metallurgy and heat.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Possess tertiary level diploma or VDTI/NVQ-J, level 3 certification.
• Minimum five (5) years experience in fabrication and aluminum welding.
