The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Volunteer Programme Coordinator, on contract.

The Volunteer Programme Coordinator is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and management of volunteer programmes within the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. This role involves recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers, ensuring that volunteer activities align with the Authority's mission and strategic goals. The Coordinator will work closely with the Director/CEO to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance volunteer engagement and support the Authority’s objectives.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Human Resources, Management, or a related field.
  • Certification in Volunteer Programme Management or related field is an asset.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in volunteer coordination or programme management, preferably within a non-profit or child-focused organization.
  • Proven experience in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer programme strategy that supports the mission and objectives of the Children’s Authority.
  • Design and oversee volunteer recruitment processes, including outreach, selection, and onboarding.
  • Create and manage volunteer training programmes to ensure all volunteers are well-prepared and equipped to contribute effectively.
  • Coordinate daily operations of the volunteer programme, including scheduling, task assignment, and supervision of volunteer activities.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers, addressing any issues or concerns that arise.
  • Ensure that volunteer activities are aligned with the Authority’s policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of the volunteer programme through feedback, surveys, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on volunteer activities, performance, and programme effectiveness to the Director/CEO.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, community partners, and stakeholders to enhance programme effectiveness and support.
  • Represent the Children’s Authority at community events, networking opportunities, and other relevant activities.
  • Identify opportunities for programme improvement and implement changes to enhance volunteer engagement and programme outcomes.
  • Stay informed about best practices and trends in volunteer management and incorporate relevant innovations into the programme.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and feedback.
  • Manage the volunteer database and ensure up-to-date and accurate information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director/ CEO.
