Our client, Atlantic LNG is seeking to fill the position of Vice President – Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE).

JOB PURPOSE

The Vice President - Health, Safety, Security and Environment (VP HSSE) is a key member of the Atlantic Leadership Team responsible for the delivery of Atlantic's targets in the areas of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE), Decarbonization, and Crisis Management and Emergency Response (CMER). He/She is responsible for ensuring that the right tools, equipment, management processes and competent personnel are in place for the delivery of HSSE and crisis management performance. He/She is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and managing the HSSE, Decarbonization, and CMER elements of the Board approved corporate strategy, as well as the associated policies, programmes, and practices of the Company.

An important focus of the jobholder's responsibilities is the achievement of optimum HSSE/CMER targets in accordance with Atlantic's objectives, as well as to develop and drive the carbon abatement strategy for the organization into the business. The position also acts as an expert resource for the Company on applicable HSSE/CMER laws and regulations and ensures that Atlantic conforms to these criteria. He/She is responsible for the ongoing development of within the business to ensure there are appropriate succession plans in place for the HSSE/CMER function.

  

 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provides strategic oversight for the planning, development, implementation, administration and maintenance of HSSE & CMER systems, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines across the organisation.
  • Provides high-level HSSE/CMER oversight to Atlantic including risk assessments and advice on hazard controls compliance.
  • Leads the stakeholder management approach for Atlantic with HSSE/CMER regulators, mutual aid scheme members and other oil and gas industry bodies.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of the HSSE/CMER budget and oversees the management of budgetary allocations in accordance with Atlantic guidelines.
  • Leads the drive for Green House Gas (GHG) emissions reduction and provides strategic oversight of development and implementation of an overall Decarbonisation strategy for the business.
  • Determines the structure of and provides strategic direction to the security team in discharging its role to develop, implement and monitor security on all plant and office facilities, of all persons whilst on the company’s premises, and of key executives as required.

  

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

  • A first degree in Natural Science, Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised, accredited institution.
  • A Master's in Business Management will be an asset.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years related experience at least five (5) of which should be in a managerial capacity, preferably in the energy sector.
  • Experience in implementing HSSE / CMER management systems to international (ISO) requirements.
  • Experience in developing and executing Decarbonization strategies in the oil and gas industry. 
  • Experience in developing health management systems and implementing controls to manage both locally and global driven health risks to personnel and the business.
  • Expert Knowledge of budgets and cost control in support of the delivery of the overall business Capex and Opex targets.
