DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure the financial health of the university.
- Oversee budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting processes.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Manage investments and financial assets.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the President and Board of Trustees.
Human Resources:
- Oversee the Human Resources department, ensuring effective recruitment, development, and retention of staff.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
Facilities Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of campus facilities.
- Ensure the security and safety of all university properties.
- Plan and manage capital projects and renovations.
- Develop and implement sustainability initiatives.
Information Technology:
- Oversee the Information and Communications Technology department.
- Develop and implement IT strategies to support the university's academic and administrative functions.
- Ensure the security and integrity of university data.
- Promote the use of technology to enhance learning and operational efficiency.
Strategic Planning:
- Participate in the development and implementation of the university's strategic plan.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align financial and administrative goals with the university's mission.
- Monitor and report on the progress of strategic initiatives.
Administration:
- Oversee administrative functions, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the university's mission.
- Represent the university in meetings and collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctorate in finance, business administration, or a related field; a CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management and administration, preferably in higher education.
- Proven track record in strategic planning and execution.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and standards.
- Experience in managing human resources, facilities, and information technology.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Highly motivated, self-driven, resourceful individual interested primarily in the development of Belize and willing to work in a challenging environment.
- Experienced professional with wide-ranging work-performance backgrounds, including working knowledge in and appreciation of the main issues in the component areas of the job portfolios.
- A good track record in institutional development and management (including people-management) in small but diverse societies, together with an appreciation of the peculiar requirements of a tertiary-level teaching and research institution.
- Familiarity with the processes and procedures of bilateral and multilateral funding agencies and with the preparation of consultancy proposals.
- Performance-focused, output- and outcome-oriented, people-friendly, and willing and capable of encouraging high-level performance from subordinates.
- Emphasis in candidate selection would be placed on demonstrated track records.
- Working knowledge of Spanish would be useful.
