The Utility Service Attendant is responsible for maintaining the grounds and surrounding areas of the property in a clean and attractive manner, undertaking minor repairs and washing vehicles assigned to the location.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

ü  NVQ-J level 2 certification in disciplines such as: Gardening, Landscaping and Sanitation Services or the equivalent Secondary level education

ü  Knowledge in the use of chemicals and hazardous material

ü  At least six (6) months relevant work experience in a comparable position and business/work environment such as: a hotel, a public park, a commercial or office, a housing complex, or an education institution

KEY COMPETENCIES:

ü  Equipment Maintenance skills

ü  Landscape Gardening skills

ü  Flexibility

KEY DUTIES:

ü  Mows and rakes all lawn areas and remove and dispose of shrubs as directed

ü  Prunes trees and hedges, keep perimeter fence free of encroaching vegetation and assist with the mending of broken fence

ü  Maintains flowerbeds and potted plants in accordance with established gardening standards

ü  Sweeps and ensure all paved areas are kept clean

ü  Disposes of garbage, wash garbage bins and skips each time the garbage is removed

ü  Maintains equipment and tools and report defects or malfunctioning of equipment/tools immediately

ü  Reports accidents and hazardous situations promptly

ü  Cleans and store tools and equipment in designated area

ü  Undertakes minor/routine repairs to tools and equipment and report cases of major repairs to supervisor

ü  Washes and clean all vehicles assigned to the location as required

ü  Provides assistance to the maintenance department as required

ü  Monitors and cleans grease traps and gutters at applicable locations

ü  Arranges tables and chair and assist with decorations for special events

ü  Changes light bulbs, basic plumbing fittings and basic assembling and installation

ü  Moves equipment and office furniture for the various Departments on property

ü  Carries out paint jobs as required

ü  Manages inventory of chemicals used in grounds maintenance

ü  Conducts bi-monthly checks of fire extinguishers

ü  Cleans and effect minor repairs to furniture in students’ multi-purpose area

ü  Cleans walls and doors

ü  Installs safety signs throughout campus

ü  Tidies and maintains storage area
