The Transport & Safety Officer will facilitate the implementation of Transportation and Safety policies, ensuring that external & internal customers are aware of and adhere to relevant policies, procedures & guidelines and that administrative functions are in accordance with protocols and procedures

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Implements and maintains database of the Commission’s fleet of motor vehicles and equipment with relevant data, item history and assigned Driver or Operator;
  • Assist with documentation of related Procurement activities;
  • Maintains vehicle servicing records and administers servicing of all motor vehicles and equipment;
  • Ensures that orders to service vehicles are effected and investigates non compliance;
  • Liaises with point persons to ensure that vehicle documents are kept up to date and that audits of assigned tools/accessories are done;
  • Facilitates the implementation and review of organization-wide Health and Safety  Policy and Action Plan;
  • Implements and maintains the Commission’s Occupational Health and Safety standards and guidelines;
  • Monitors health and safety practices in all Offices of the Commission
  • Organizes and conducts on-site inspections at field locations where maintenance and irrigation works are ongoing;
  • Monitor the status of safety equipment and report on defects;
  • Assists with the delivery of Health and Safety training programmes and disaster preparedness initiatives;
  • Investigates incidents/accidents and produce reports on the findings;
  • Establishes and maintains system for reporting safety hazards;
  • Conducts research with employees/customers on health and safety issues/experiences;
  • Plans and facilitates Health and Safety Committee meetings;
  • Conducts and reviews risk assessments and provides relevant audit reports;

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Industrial Psychology, Management Studies; or a related field of study;
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position;
  • Positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in Occupational Health and Safety/Motor Vehicle Fleet Management;
