Job Title: Training Manager Theory (Aviation, Ground School)

Location: University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Shall on the behalf of the Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (CTKI) ensure supervision and standardization of all theoretical instruction.
• Shall ensure implementation and adherence to theoretical instruction standards.
• Ensure all Theoretical Training activities are in line with established compliance monitoring system, and collaborate with the responsible persons to correct any non-compliance.
• Ensure that training is carried out in strict adherence to approved Operations and Training Manuals and syllabi.
• Report back revision needs on all ATO courseware and manuals related to theoretical instruction.
• Report any training and or compliance issue to the Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor (CTKI).
• Ensure adequate number of qualified instructors are readily available to deliver all planned training activities.
• Manage any Clients and or instructor performance issues.
• Oversee the progression of all students, using the digital learning platform as part of the Multi Engine CPL(A) Instrument Rating (A) Theoretical Knowledge course and ensure any issues are addressed in the form of additional tutorial or advice as required.
• Contribute and assist in the development of Theoretical Knowledge Instruction materials (new and existing) as appropriate to a quality standard as defined by the CTKI.
• Be part of the active team of Theoretical Knowledge Instructors and deliver a range of theoretical subjects, if qualifications permit.
• Other duties as required by the CTKI.
• Support the Training Organization and participates in regional projects.
• Ensures efficient scheduling and maximize usage of resources.
• Oversee the program scheduling function to ensure compliance with ATO approval / customer contract.
• Follow up on customer surveys and implement improvements, when necessary, based on the feedback.
• To hold and document Instructor meetings as detailed in the ATO manual.
• Representing the CTKI and Accountable Manager in building and ensuring a solid relationship with existing and potential customers.
• Hire and train consultant instructors in accordance with defined processes and standards.
• Responsible for performing annual performance reviews of direct reporting staff.
• Establish & maintain the trust & support of colleagues, the members of the department and management.
• Conduct regular meetings with the overall team and management staff.
• Create a clear, customer-centric vision for the programs & communicate it to training staff and training supporting functions/departments.
• Ensure that training equipment is according to standard as required by the training to be conducted.
• Manage ground training operations- set clear objectives.
• Identifying client needs & establishing user requirements.
• Identifying opportunities to improve the delivery of training to our clients and report back to the Centre Leader and CTKI.
Education and Minimum Experience
• Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
• Educated to degree level preferably bachelor’s level.
• Taught ATPL theory subjects previously within large, professional flight academy.
• Relevant aviation/instructional qualifications advantageous.
