The position is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing maintenance and project related activities associated with the Streetlight infrastructure.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing maintenance and project related activities associated with the Streetlight infrastructure. In addition, the position is required to develop the necessary solutions to resolve existing issues and improve the general material distribution and RMR, Streetlight Warranty, Supplier management and engagement.

EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUES

  1. Tertiary Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent qualifications.
  2. Project Management certification.
  3. Certified authority to switch on electrical power systems (Switching certification DT2 level).
  4. Training in Outage Management Technique
  5. Well-developed analytical and diagnostic skills.

EXPERIENCE/LEARNED DISCIPLINE 

  1. At least three (3) years’ experience in streetlight maintenance and installation.
  2. Knowledge of Oracle financial and other relevant Oracle applications.
  3. Experience in the use of various computer software including; Terrago, Harmony, OMS, Database Management, AUTOCAD, Microsoft Office Suite etc.)
  4. Knowledge of GIS mapping procedures.
  5. Knowledge of Basic LED Lamps & Smart Controller and secondary line operation and troubleshooting.
  6. Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques for faults on underground and overhead streetlight infrastructure and equipment, and on basic T&D.
  7. Excellent data analysis (proficiency in Microsoft Excel), report writing and presentation skills.
  8. Ability to monitor and control the activities and operation of multiple events simultaneously.
  9. Knowledge of the company’s safety policies and procedures.
  10. Interpretation of electrical diagrams and symbols.
  11. Understand drawings and troubleshooting of underground circuits.

ELEMENTS OF MAJOR DUTIES 

  1. Monitors and manages repairs and replacement of defective streetlights and damage infrastructure in designated area across major and minor corridors.
  2. Develops strategies to improve streetlight functionality all major and minor corridors across the network.
  3. Plans and executes scope of works for executing street lighting projects including installation of lighting poles, Standards, new lamps, streetlight replacement, repair defective lamps and rehabilitate overhead and underground secondary circuit.
  4. Conducts research and development to keep abreast of the streetlight landscape for continuous improvement in technologies, fixture standard and streetlight best practices.
  5. Prepares and maintain procurement schedule & material data base through the RMR process by ensuring all material on stock and material issued and returned by contractors are balanced.
  6. Ensures that all materials issued are accounted for through the development of a material pick up and RMR schedule, and by tracking all materials issued and returned by the Contractor.
  7. Performs routine inspection of streetlights.
  8. Ensures that manpower, equipment and material are properly utilized.
  9. Ensures implementation of company policies.
  10. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with Contractors, Co-workers, Local Community Representatives and other individuals contacted during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely
  11. Creates and maintains a safe work environment and identify and alert others to any dangerous situations that may exist.
  12. Communicates with key personnel from the Distribution Operation, Customer Service and Corporate Communication’s Departments and other relevant departments on streetlight related matters using the various communication channels
  13. Reports streetlight activities for assigned areas through standardized reporting templates
  14. Ensures Contractor use of the Terrago software to track and report Streetlight activities
  15. Manages and coordinate Contractor activities for work order execution.
  16. Manages, coordinate, review and signed off contractor work order executed and invoices to facilitate timely compensation on a monthly basis.
