The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for the sales and service of specialty and commodity chemicals. The incumbent will solicit prospective clients, recommend solutions using specialty chemicals, and provide after sales service to clients.
Job Summary
The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for the sales and service of specialty and commodity chemicals. The incumbent will solicit prospective clients, recommend solutions using specialty chemicals, and provide after sales service to clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Work as part of the sales team to identify customer needs, and systems performance gaps.
- Develop solutions to resolve issues utilizing programs from within the Water Treatment sub-unit.
- Assist in the development of a business plan and budget for the Water Treatment unit.
- Assist with the supervision and development of staff or contractors available to the department.
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on projects and other operational activities.
- Provide weekly updates to Senior Management on issues affecting the Unit.
- Liaise with customers/contractors/suppliers as required.
- Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate quality, health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
- Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc. Engineering or Chemistry from a recognised, accredited institution
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a project environment with sales experience
- Proficient in using MS Office Suite.
- Must be able to analyse and synthesize information to understand issues to make recommendations.
- Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player and possess good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas clearly using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills.
- Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure without becoming flustered.
- Ability to organise work so that tasks each to complete work on time, prioritize projects and communicate progress to supervisors and colleagues.
- Ability to display a high level of integrity by keeping good on promises; holding self-accountable; and being honest and truthful.
