Phase 3 Productions is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead and oversee the technical operations of live event productions. The Technical Manager will ensure the seamless integration of technical elements, manage technical teams, and maintain equipment readiness to deliver high-quality event experiences. This role requires exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and strategic planning skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Operations Management
    • Plan, oversee, and execute the technical aspects of live events, including audiovisual, lighting, staging, rigging, and networking requirements.
    • Develop and implement technical workflows to optimize efficiency and ensure consistent quality.
    • Conduct site visits and assessments to determine technical needs and feasibility.
  2. Team Leadership and Coordination
    • Manage, mentor, and train technical staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to technical teams, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
    • Collaborate with producers, event coordinators, and clients to align technical execution with event goals.
  3. Equipment Management
    • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and inventory of technical equipment, ensuring all assets are in excellent working condition.
    • Recommend and implement upgrades or acquisitions of new technology to stay ahead in the industry.
    • Develop and enforce protocols for equipment handling, storage, and transportation.
  4. Budgeting and Resource Allocation
    • Prepare and manage technical budgets for events, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
    • Allocate resources efficiently, balancing project demands and company objectives.
  5. Risk Management and Problem Solving
    • Identify potential technical risks and develop contingency plans.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues during events and provide quick, effective resolutions.
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

 

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical management for live events, AV production, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of audiovisual, lighting, and staging equipment and systems.
  • Knowledgeable in use of event design software
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Familiarity with live broadcasting and multicamera setups is a plus.
  • Certifications in audiovisual technologies, project management, or safety protocols are an asset.
