Technical Manager, ANSA Coatings Limited

Job Summary:

The Technical Manager ensures the efficient and effective operations of the Technical Department. This comprises Technical Services and Development, Quality Control and Quality Assurance functions, in the prioritizing, planning and executing of the respective functions and responsibilities and in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.

Job Description:

• Work as a part of the Senior Management team to develop and refine a long/medium-term plan for the Company.
• Manage the formulation, re-formulation and new product development processes to meet customer needs/requirements for all ANSA Coatings brands in Trinidad and Sissons Paints Limited Grenada.
• Ensure QC output is aligned with the cyclical requirement of the demand plan.
• Ensure minimum formula cost through reformulations and sourcing and validating of alternate raw materials for ANSA Coatings and Sissons Paint Limited Grenada.
• Ensure standardized formulations and manufacturing instructions alignment between Ansa Coatings Limited, Sissons Paint Limited Grenada and Berger Regional subsidiaries.
• Develop, implement and manage testing and monitoring procedures, work processes/instructions and record keeping systems.
• Ensure an effective Raw Material testing program is functional to ensure quality standards are met.
• Manage the quality control process whilst maintaining the quality control standards to ensure manufacture of quality products.
• Monitor batch quality as manufactured by the Small Batch section.
• Investigate all quality complaints to determine the validity and root causes with the development and implementation of preventative measures to eliminate complaints.
• Ensure the Maintenance and Calibration of Laboratory Equipment is conducted as per scheduled and that consumables are available.
• Ensure accurate and current formulation, manufacturing instructions, quality control information and finished goods bill of materials on Dynamics D3650.
• Participate in the development of and perform all duties in accordance with the procedures set forth in ISO 9001: 2000 standards, ACL Quality standards and OSHA standards.
• Supervise Technical Department personnel with respect to company standards and compliance with company/HR Policies.
• Ensure all department procedures are current and adhered to effectively and efficiently.
• Provide Technical Support to all ANSA Coatings and Sissons Paints Grenada Limited functional areas and respective customers.
• Ensure the appropriate training and development activities are available for the technical personnel.
• Ensure the smooth running of the department by coordinating all activities and functions.
• Submit departmental monthly reports.
• Promote safety awareness and the development of a safety culture within the company.
• Conduct any other related duties that may be assigned by the General Manager and/or the Sector Coatings Operations Manager.
• Liaise with external customers/contractors/suppliers as and when necessary.
• Compliance with Ansa Mcal Group Policies.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Degree in Chemistry, Analytical or Polymer or an equivalent combination of academic and work experience
• At least 7 years’ experience in a Technical Department, 3 of which must be at Supervisory Level
• Minimum of 2 years working in a Coatings Laboratory
• Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Color Matching Software, Tinting Machines.
• Quality Assurance/Quality Management
• Must be free of colour vision defects.
