About the role

The primary goal of the Technical Consultant will be to provide expert consulting services to customers, Sales and other key internal stakeholders. The incumbent will be a technical expert resource who will be responsible for design and delivery of large and complex security solutions to our customers. The role holder will also deliver high complexity work packages as part of customer implementation projects, may design and deliver technical training and produce quality knowledge sharing articles internally and externally. Key to this role will be staying abreast of trends, vendors, vulnerabilities and solutions and directing the organization to increase the effectiveness of our Security offerings. This is a Hybrid Remote role. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with customers to understand their business strategy and develop IT strategies and end to end architecture for significant areas of their business.
  • Defining the support criteria for infrastructure design, guiding support teams, using top-level technical expertise to resolve complex problems and deliver service improvements.
  • Alerting and influencing management in respect of the availability of new security technology and changes to existing methodologies that impact on the way the organization delivers services.
  • Shaping end-to-end technical proposals for customer approval and recommending solution/ service trade-offs, where appropriate.
  • Leading technical implementation of large security infrastructures and technical designs, either on-premise, in a cloud platform or as a managed service, including producing cost and timescale estimates and identifying risks.
  • On larger projects, working within a technical framework of the Project to meet customer requirements.
  • Identifying project delivery risks and mitigations for the proposed solutions and approaches.
  • Identifying the accuracy of the estimates for proposed solutions and approaches.
  • Taking ownership and provides consultancy level expertise to resolve major technical problems, involving other specialists and third parties where necessary.
  • Proactively analyzing information and trends, proposing actions to resolve problems, maintain and enhance service.
  • Defining, driving and improving technically related processes.
  • Influencing problem escalation in critical situations to resolve customer issues.
  • Identifying improvements for SLA, owning escalated internal and external issues to meet service level requirements.
  • Technically leading implementation of changes.
  • Monitoring performance through statistical reporting and analysis.
  • Establishing multiple relationships with senior level customers and a range of managers across the organization to act as a respected technical interface both internally and externally in order to deliver and enhance the service.
  • Providing technical and commercial expertise in conceiving and articulating changes to service methodologies and technologies to improve and grow the business.
  • Taking the lead with new concepts or technologies, being aware of where the industry is going technically to influence the development of others.
  • Researching, evaluating and selecting technology and infrastructure products and vendors for overall solutions. This includes: -
    • Analysing functionality and features
    • Assessing cost benefit factors and budgetary/ resource impacts
    • Impact/ risks to customer organisations, security and users
    • Investigating compatibility with the existing operating environment
    • Selecting products for evaluation criteria and recommending final selection
  • Assessing and evaluating emerging products and solutions and working with Fujitsu and its customers to ensure adherence with established standards, policies and guidelines.
  • Leading and influencing others in the development of new solution and service offerings.
  • Taking a technical lead in promoting knowledge sharing and development of other team members.
  • Acting as team leader as necessary. May have responsibility for team development and assisting with objective setting, appraisals, personal development plans and regular progress meetings with allocated team members.

Key academic qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Business Management.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ work experience in a wide range of technology areas and any area of security.
  • Experience with native cloud security controls for Azure, AWS and GCP
  • TOGAF or equivalent training in Enterprise Architecture Framework
  • Industry standard certification at a professional level (e.g. - Ethical Hacking (CEH), CompTIA Security +, ISC2 CCSP)
  • Expert knowledge in a widely used vendor technology (e.g. - Checkpoint CCSE, Fortinet NSE7, Juniper JNCIP-SEC)
