The Team Lead is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of Massy Distribution’s Tobago Operations through the establishment of effective procedures and policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

MERCHANDISING

  • Oversee and participate in the coordination of merchandising activities
  • Ensure efficient service by developing, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, procedures and productivity standards.
  • Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, scheduling expenditures, analysing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service, standards; analysing and resolving quality and customer service problems; recommending system improvements.

OPERATIONS

  • Provide supervision and guidance to Team members in the execution of responsibilities.
  • Guide and direct the Tobago Team towards achieving operational goals in a timely and effective manner. Take appropriate action where there are deviations.
  • Oversee the verification of picked stock and shipping of all orders to relevant customers.
  • Evaluate and monitor stock levels to order stock in a timely manner to fulfill customer requirements as needed to ensure optimum quantities and rotation.
  • Ensure that damages and expired goods are dealt with timely and effectively.
  • Develop and refine the trade coverage plan to ensure the right implementation of the organisation’s portfolio strategy.

SALES & MARKETING

  • Ensuring the attainment of the overall brand budgets.
  • Analysing of the business to identify opportunities within the different Retail Environments.
  • Monitoring sales on a daily basis to timely signal to Supplier and Commercial Director if added activity is required to achieve monthly sales targets.
  • Co-ordinating monthly sales meetings with Brand Team and Area Managers to roll out following month’s activations to the Sales Reps.
  • Ensuring effective on trade execution in line with Principal’s directives and promptly feeding back information to Sales and Merchandising for corrective action.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Requirements

  • BSc. or BA in Business Management with emphasis on Marketing or relevant experience.
  • 5 to 7 years Supervisory Experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of marketing principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in consumer needs assessment, business planning, market analysis, competitive assessments, and market requirements definition.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent written and oral skills to communicate clearly and negotiate effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability in motivating and guiding team members.
  • Must be results oriented and will possess excellent analytical skills as well as a keen creative sense.
  • Must have the ability to turn financial data into sound business decisions.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to multi-task in previous work environments and be able to set priorities, stay focused, and set clear milestones.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office
