The System Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and systems. This position involves working closely with other IT professionals to troubleshoot, implement, and manage technology solutions that enhance the performance, security, and reliability of the systems.
Job Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
System Management & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, operating systems, and software applications.
- Maintain DNS and DHCP services, group policies, and network policy services
- Setup and configure new MS Windows servers as required (VM or On Premise)
- Upgrading Server Operating Systems, Patching
- Auditing system logs for troubleshooting and incident response
Backup & Recovery: Ensure regular backups are performed and that systems are recoverable in case of failures or disasters in line with business continuity plans. Manage and maintains system backups and restores ensuring industry standards are met using the 321 methodology.
Security & Compliance: Monitor and improve system security to comply with industry regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, and other relevant standards. Regularly update firewalls, antivirus software, and perform security audits.
System Optimization: Continuously monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements to enhance system efficiency. Coordinate use of technology resources with user’s needs
Collaborative Problem Solving: Work closely with IT staff, department heads, and external vendors to resolve technical issues and implement new technologies.
Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate documentation of systems configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
Support: Provide technical support for internal teams on system-related issues, and train staff on new system implementations and updates.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party service providers and software vendors to ensure the performance and reliability of outsourced systems.
Disaster Recovery: Help design, implement, and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans specific to the IT infrastructure. Quarterly DR / failover testing of system redundancies
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Experience:
Technical Skills:
Proficient in Windows Server, Linux/Unix, and/or other enterprise-level operating systems.
Experience with database management (e.g., MS SQL Server, MySQL).
Administering Windows Server Hybrid Core Infrastructure.
Knowledge of security tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and best practices.
Familiarity with insurance-specific software and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
Ability to use tools like PowerShell, scripting, and automation platforms to streamline tasks.
Networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a regulated environment like insurance, finance, or healthcare.
Certification in relevant IT fields (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, ITIL).
Microsoft Certifications like MCSA, MCSE
