System Engineer

IP Phone systems, networking, contact center solutions, commercial video surveillance, Access control and IT Infrastructure solutions.

Summary/Objective:
The System Engineer works on a range of projects as well as post implementation support for clients.  Our Project range from SMB to enterprise  and telecommunication service provider deployments.

To advance in this role requires a constant focus on learning through all formal and informal opportunities. Candidates must have the ability to be hands on with a keen focus on delivery of objectives The System Engineer  must attain a number of product certifications during the probation period including  VOIP PBX, Genesys Contact center certifications and Cloud PBX technologies ( Microsoft/CISCO).  As a prerequisite to our inhouse training the candidate should already have an intermediate knowledge of networking, routing and IT security.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deployment of enterprise communication, video surveillance and IT infrastructure projects following a formal project management methodology.
• Preventative Maintenance of internal and client systems on site as well as remotely.
• To troubleshoot and resolve incidents from VOL’s premises or client sites in a systematic and time sensitive manner.
• QA testing including development of detailed test scripts and test execution.
• To support the Sales and Marketing function in all activities aimed at increasing our sales and professional presence in the region.
• To diligently make use of all formal and informal training opportunities with objective of  becoming certified in the products and services offered by VOL.
• To efficiently perform all administrative or reporting tasks according to set internal SLAs.
• To work as a key member of a high performance team with a focus on safety, timely delivery and quality.

Education and certification

• Degree in computer science/computer Engineering/Computer technology  etc or equivalent
• Comprehensive networking knowledge working towards  CCNA/Network + would be an asset
• Experience with Linux/ Windows server an asset
• Knowledge of VOIP, SIP and communications concepts
• Graduate trainees with less experience but with a sound academic record and right attitude will be considered for trainee positions.

Other Requirements

• Ability to work flexible hours when required to complete projects on time or meet out of hours support commitments
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid working environment ( remote as well as office)
• Valid drivers licence and own a vehicle
