The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of System Administrator, on contract.

The System Administrator is responsible for the administration, configuration, and maintenance of the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago’s (CATT) IT systems and infrastructure. This role ensures the optimal performance, security, and reliability of servers, network components, and software applications. The System Administrator will work under the guidance of the Enterprise ICT Manager to implement system upgrades, manage system backups, and provide technical support for users.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of experience in system administration or a similar role, with hands-on experience in operating systems, virtualization, and network management.
  • Proven experience with network monitoring tools, firewalls, and security protocols.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), CompTIA Server+, or similar certifications are preferred.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and software applications.

  • Set up and manage network services, including DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
  • Monitor system performance and availability using appropriate tools and take proactive measures to address issues.
  • Analyze performance metrics and logs to identify and resolve system bottlenecks or failures.
  • Provide technical support to users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard systems and data from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Regularly update and patch systems to address vulnerabilities and enhance security.
  • Ensure regular backups of system data and configurations, and verify the integrity of backups.
  • Develop, test, and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure continuity of services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
  • Prepare and present reports on system performance, incidents, and resolutions to the Enterprise ICT Manager.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades, including hardware replacements and software updates.
  • Optimize system configurations to improve performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise ICT team on system-related projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of new technology deployments and system improvements.
  • Represent the ICT department at meetings and conferences as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Enterprise ICT Manager.
