SUSTAINABILITY SPECIALIST – INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS
Applications are invited from persons with suitable qualifications to fill the position of “Sustainability Specialist – International Agreements” at the Group Sustainability Unit.
The jobholder is responsible for selected oversight duties of the Group’s commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiatives (UNEPFI) – Principles of Responsible Banking (PRB) and Net Zero Alliance (NZBA) and any other relevant regional or international sustainability agreements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Co-ordinating the GSU’s responsibilities (meetings, working groups, deadlines, reporting as determined by the SDGs, PRB and NZBA. Duties include:
- Familiarization with all RFHL’s responsibilities and commitments under the international and multilateral arrangements
- Demonstrating clear understanding of Global best practice in sustainable finance
- Attending and contributing to all relevant meetings and interactions and keeping detailed tracking systems for action items, with specific priority to NZBA sector and target meetings
- Preparing all required documentation, assignments and reports related to the international agreements
- Ensuring appropriate communication of activities throughout RFHL in collaboration with the Sustainability Specialist – ESG and Sustainability Data Specialist
- Representing RFHL on relevant meetings and engagements and developing RFHL specific engagement opportunities. Main duties include:
- Representation on scheduled and ad hoc virtual meetings for all UNEPFI/RFHL arrangements and UNDP’s SDGs and maintaining effective records
- Ensuring all reporting deadlines are met and communicated to relevant internal stakeholders
- Representation as guided by Manager, as in person meetings on behalf of GSU or RFHL
- Coordinating with GMC and other RFHL units to develop innovative and audience appropriate communication tools to increase staff awareness about RFHL’s international obligations
- Researching and preparing relevant documentation and material for national, regional and international meetings/seminars/conferences. Main duties include:
- Collating, ranking and developing relevance analysis for the various annual UNEPFI, UNDP and Multilateral conferences
- Actively seeking RFHL’s visibility and participation and making recommendations to identify participants
- Preparing all accompanying material for RFHL’s participation
- Preparing all post meeting reports
- Representing GSU on relevant Group PRB, NZBA and SDG initiatives. Day to day activities include but not limited to:
- Working closely with Sustainability Specialist (ESG) to coordinate the Unit’s input and representation on Group-wide initiatives associated with our international obligations
- Attending meetings and representing accordingly
- Maintaining records as necessary
- Maintaining a database on relevant meetings, workshops, seminars and conferences that RFHL should have a presence in collaboration with the Sustainability Data Specialist and Sustainability Specialist – ESG
- Working closely with the Sustainability Specialist ESG and Sustainability Data Specialist to ensure work harmonization and documentation management system. Duties include:
- Scheduling meetings to develop implementation plans
- Developing GSU specific communication systems to avoid work duplication
- Acting as a liaison between GSU and Group units, territories and functions for all SDG, PRB and NZBA matters. Duties include:
- Setting up communication and feedback systems for all relevant internal and external stakeholders necessary for meeting the international obligations
- Developing systems to manage frequent “ad hoc” requests (advice, presentations, speeches, meetings etc)
GENERAL QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
The jobholder should have:
- Undergraduate degree in Sustainability Studies, Environmental Studies/Science/Management Developmental Studies, Corporate Governance, Legal and Policy Studies or any relevant combination or closely related field
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience coordinating multiple, technically based sustainability projects
- Sound knowledge in sustainability themes: Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG), Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs), United Nations Environment Programme Finance (UNEPFI), Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI)
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Solid writing, presentation and communication skills
- Excellent technical report writing
- Demonstrated research and analytic skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across different geographic locations and business units
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite
