Position Overview

The Supply Chain Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of the supply chain process within the organization. This position involves overseeing various aspects of supply chain, including procurement, logistics and supplier relations. The Supply Chain Officer collaborates closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize supply chain operations and support the organization's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Procurement:
    • Support with the sourcing and procurement of products required for operations.
    • Evaluate suppliers and establish favorable terms and conditions.
    • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues or concerns to ensure timely delivery and quality standards are met.
  2. Logistics Management:
    • Coordinate the transportation and distribution of goods, ensuring timely delivery to customers and internal departments.
    • Optimize transportation routes, modes of transportation, and freight costs.
    • Maintain accurate records of shipments, including tracking and documentation.
  3. Inventory Control:
    • Monitor inventory levels and ensure adequate stock levels to meet demand.
    • Implement inventory control measures to minimize excess stock and avoid stockouts.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
  4. Supply Chain Planning:
    • Support with developing and implementing supply chain strategies to optimize efficiency and minimize costs.
    • Forecast demand and plan inventory levels accordingly to meet business needs.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance supply chain performance.
  5. Supplier Management Support:
    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, and service providers.
    • Evaluate supplier performance, conduct supplier evaluations, and implement corrective actions as needed.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve issues, negotiate pricing, and improve service levels.
  6. Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and disruptions in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors that may impact the supply chain.
    • Implement contingency plans to minimize the impact of disruptions on operations.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of proven experience in supply chain management, procurement, or logistics roles would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in supply chain management.
