The Stewarding Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the stewarding team to ensure cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards in the kitchen and food & beverage areas. This role involves managing dishwashing operations, maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.
Job Functions
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the stewarding team.
- Ensure all kitchen and back-of-house areas are kept clean and sanitized.
- Oversee dishwashing and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Assist in waste management and recycling initiatives.
- Support the Stewarding Manager in maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Train and mentor stewarding staff on proper cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
- Assign tasks and ensure team efficiency in kitchen operations.
- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations (HACCP, OSHA, etc.).
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain hygiene standards.
- Implement and enforce fire and workplace safety measures.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
- Assist in budget planning and cost control measures.
- Coordinate with suppliers for ordering and replenishment of stock.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2+ years in a stewarding or kitchen supervisory role, preferably in hospitality.
- High school diploma or equivalent (culinary or hospitality management degree preferred).
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and hygiene standards.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of inventory management and cost control.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physically demanding role, requiring standing, lifting, and working in high-temperature environments.
