The Stewarding Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the stewarding team to ensure cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards in the kitchen and food & beverage areas. This role involves managing dishwashing operations, maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety regulations.

Job Functions

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the stewarding team.
  • Ensure all kitchen and back-of-house areas are kept clean and sanitized.
  • Oversee dishwashing and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Assist in waste management and recycling initiatives.
  • Support the Stewarding Manager in maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Train and mentor stewarding staff on proper cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
  • Assign tasks and ensure team efficiency in kitchen operations.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide feedback for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations (HACCP, OSHA, etc.).
  • Conduct regular inspections to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Implement and enforce fire and workplace safety measures.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Assist in budget planning and cost control measures.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for ordering and replenishment of stock.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

 

  • 2+ years in a stewarding or kitchen supervisory role, preferably in hospitality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (culinary or hospitality management degree preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management and cost control.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physically demanding role, requiring standing, lifting, and working in high-temperature environments.
