Reporting to the Settlement Supervisor, the Settlement Officer is responsible for providing the business with efficient and effective processes for the cash management and settlement processes of the Finance department.

 

   Major Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all policies and procedures are followed relating to the function
  • Ensures accuracy in processing deposits for drivers, cheques, and cash
  • Accurately handles cash to reduce acceptance of counterfeit notes
  • Preparing deposits in sealed courier bags for transportation to the bank
  • Ensures deposits are sent to the bank via courier on a daily basis, properly identifying cash separate from cheques
  • Ensures that cheques are not collected for customers on the bad cheques list
  • Disburses cash for approved and completed petty cash vouchers
  • Safeguards and reimburses petty cash float on a timely basis
  • Completes and submits critical reports daily; cashier daily, guardsman, credit card/cheques log and vault reports
  • Ensures that AML tracking is done and reported daily
  • Settles all routes and closing of cash modules daily
  • Prints all driver documents to include invoices, stop sheets, activity sheets daily, and other reports as needed.
  • Submits reports to include logbooks, settlement reports, cash balance reports, driver shortage reports daily, and other reports as needed.
  • Updates settlement KPI boards Daily
  • Responsible for accurate filing of all route information daily

 

 Specialized knowledge, skills, and training required:

  • Knowledge of Company accounting policy
  • Computer literate, skilled in SAP, EXCEL spreadsheet and other applications.
  • Sound internal control systems.
  • Effective communicator both orally and written.
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Ability to focus on detail
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills
  • Ability to plan work to meet stipulated deadlines
  • Impeccable cash handling and cash management skills

 

Academic qualifications and experience required for the job:

  • 5 CXC, GCE O level, CAPE passes
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working in Finance.
  • A self-driven professional with  good organizational, time management and follow-up skills
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

 

Working Condition: (e.g. dust, dirt, heat, abnormal hours, frequent travel, overtime, etc.)

  • Three (3) Shifts (6 am – 2 pm, 2 pm – 10 pm, 10 pm – 6 am) per 24 hours; may be required to work outside the set work hours
  • Will be exposed to a Distribution Center & Warehouse environment
  • Frequent to moderate walking short/long distances within the Distribution Hub and Warehouse areas
  • Exposure to forklifts & delivery trucks within the Warehouse area
