The incumbent s responsible for the auditing of the day-to-day transactions and operations of the Underwriters to ensure accuracy in submitted policy documents and renewal review deadlines in accordance to UW guidelines.

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Support the Audit & Quality Control process to ensure adherence to the agreed timelines and reporting schedules.
  • Follow up with Underwriters to complete audit tickets within given deadlines.
  • Ensure that company exposure to losses are minimized through the formulation and maintenance of sound, up to date Underwriting Guidelines.
  • Conduct ongoing analysis of the performance of the Motor portfolio to determine revenue leakages or cost inefficiencies and make recommendations for appropriate action via pricing, terms or conditions adjustments.
  • Identify and make recommendations to the VP when/where reinsurance facilities or changes to treaties are required.
  • Conduct Policy Document, Forms and other technical wordings reviews and revise where needed.
  • Make recommendations to Head of Business Unit to make changes to the UW Guidelines which reflect existing market/industry conditions and practices where appropriately aligned to the Company's underwriting philosophy.
  • Assist with Policy Document, Forms and other technical wordings reviews as and when required.
  • Aid in the development of new products/add-ons that are aligned to market needs through close collaboration with relevant team members where required.
  • Handle queries and provide assistance to customers and underwriters where required via the TechOps Help Desk Ticketing System.
  • Complete any job related function relevant to the Insurance Operations Property and Casualty Division that may be required.
KEY TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the core principles of insurance and how this is applied on a day to day basis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the range of insurance products and services available in the market.
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements and how to meet these on a day to day basis.
  • Knowledge of how claims should be handled and managed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the information gathering process, the factors that affect the acceptance and underwriting of risks.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Beacon’s underwriting processes and procedures which is needed for new risks, alterations, renewals and/or cancellations. 
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum five (5) CXC/CSEC passes including Math and English (minimum grade 2)
  • Bachelor degree in Business Management or related field
  • Cetfification in Cert CII or Equivalent 
  • Minimum 5-8 years technical experience
  • Minimum 5 years insurance industry experience
  • For candidates that lack specific academic qualifications, a combination of experience &/or qualifications will be considered for Grades I & II ONLY
