The Senior System Administrator will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure, ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance, and security.

Reporting directly to the Manager, IT Support, this position will involve managing both cloud and on-premise systems, handling complex technical issues, and collaborating with other IT staff to deliver outstanding support and services.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee and maintain cloud and on-premise infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
  • Manage and optimize backup solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Implement and maintain Identity and Access Management protocols and Mobile Device Management tools.
  • Conduct regular assessments of IT systems to ensure they are up-to-date and secure.
  • Utilize Virtualization technologies to enhance resource utilization and efficiency.

Technical Support

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving support for complex IT issues.
  • Collaborate with System Administrators, Helpdesk staff, end-users and vendors to resolve escalated technical problems.
  • Develop and document best practices and standard operating procedures for IT support.
  • Mentor junior IT staff and provide guidance on technical issues.

Project Management

  • Lead or participate in IT projects, ensuring timely and successful completion.
  • Coordinate with other IT team members and departments to implement new systems and upgrades.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables effectively.

Vendor Management

  • Work with IT vendors and service providers to procure and maintain hardware and software solutions.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts and service level agreements.
  • Monitor vendor performance and address any issues to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT support or a related role.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in managing both Azure and AWS resources including Microsoft Active Directory, Entra, Devices and Windows365.
  • Strong understanding of backup solutions, Identity and Access Management, and Virtualization technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex IT projects and lead technical initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
