Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, and the performance tuning and recovery procedures for enterprise systems. Identifies methods, solutions, and provides project leadership and management in order to provide a high level of service to customers.

Key Responsiblities

Manages the day-to-day operations of the organization’s host computers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Applies revisions to host system firmware and software. Works with vendors to assist support activities.

  • Contribute in needs and functionality analysis for System services. Contribute in RFP development and Vendor solutions testing and evaluation for Systems solutions.

 

Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Trains technical staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.

  • Pilot, Stage, and roll out Systems solutions. Contribute to the analysis and development of Systems Architecture requirements for applications and services.
  • Conduct research into technology trends and evaluation of relevance.

 

Supervises Admin staff including training, evaluating and disciplining. May guide or provide work direction to technical staff, contract staff.  Determines appropriate coverage for all hours of operation.

  • Track and analyze availability and capacity demands and assist in developing plans and personnel to close the gap.

 

Performs troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.

  • Provide level III support to the Operations area in relation to Systems issues.

 

Establishes, maintains and manages Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID. Installs, modifies and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems and virtual machines within a cloud environment. Provides server support related to other software.

  • Implement Systems Policies and Standards in support of the Corporation’s architecture and compliance.

 

Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of on-premise systems that include: the host computer operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel switches, tape libraries and other components along with cloud infrastructure that includes cloud service models (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS).

  • Develop and track preventive maintenance plans for the Systems.
  • Work with third party vendors to execute third party support contracts to meet key system support needs.

 

Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.

  • Build and maintain virtual servers in this environment that are needed for Patch Management testing and other test and development projects.

 

Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications, to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse.

  • Ensure the test environment needs are met for the ICT Infrastructure and System Controls/BCP team.

 

Manages the cloud environment, data center and computer host systems including hardware, software and equipment.

  • Develop baseline configurations and standards with respect to the Systems components.

 

Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for the organization to take advantage of new technology.

  • Identify obsolete technologies and configurations and assist in the development of plans to rotate them out of the environment.

 

 Qualifications, skills, training and experience

  • A First Degree in a relevant field from an accredited tertiary institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar position within the financial industry and
  • Three (3) years’ supervisory experience

OR

  • A Diploma in a relevant field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a similar position within the financial industry
  • Four (4) years’ supervisory experience
  • Certification in Office 365 and Azure will be an asset
  • Suitable combination of training and experience
  • High confidentiality and integrity
  • Passion for delivering excellent customer service
  • Proficiency in the entire Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI
  • Ability to lead and work in teams
