The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Senior Research & Planning Officer, on contract.

The Senior Research & Planning Officer is responsible for leading and managing research and planning initiatives within the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago. This role involves developing and implementing research strategies, conducting analysis, and providing evidence-based recommendations to support organizational planning and decision-making.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.
  • A Masters Qualification or Post Graduate Diploma in Research, Planning, Statistics or related field will be an asset
  • Relevant certifications in research methodology or project management will be an asset.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in research and planning within child welfare or related sectors.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a research environment.
  • Any equivalent combination of qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities and experience.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Develop and implement research methodologies and frameworks aligned with international standards to assess and analyze child welfare issues, policies, and practices.

  • Lead and coordinate research projects from inception to completion, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify research needs and priorities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategic objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services for children and families, recommending improvements based on research findings.
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports, briefs, and presentations on research outcomes for senior management, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
  • Prepares and present reports and briefs designed to aid in the process of planning and policy formulation at the Authority
  • Stay updated on global trends, best practices, and policies related to child protection and welfare to inform decision-making and policy development.
  • Build partnerships and collaborate with external research organizations, academic institutions, and government agencies to enhance research capabilities and knowledge sharing.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a team environment.
  • Assign work to employees, follow up on results, coach employees and provide information, educational and experiential growth opportunities.
  • Represents the Authority at various meetings, conferences, consultation and community activities that may require a research and planning input
  • Perform any other duties as may be required to successfully achieve this job function.
