JOB SUMMARY:

The IT Infrastructure – Senior Network Specialist is responsible for: Leading the technical design, development and implementation of Networks, (Data Center Networks, LAN, MAN,WAN, Out Of Band Management and WIFI), Networking Infrastructure and including Virtual Networking (SDN); Security solutions (Secure remote access, firewalls and load balancers); The Network Architecture and provides third-tier support for resolving complex issues; The approval and implementation of any changes to Networking solutions and designs.        


KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the design, development and implementation of Data Centre Networks, Cloud networks and security (SDN & NSX) WIFI, LAN, MAN, and WAN, Secure Remote Access (VPN) to provide best in class solutions and technologies in alignment with strategic business initiatives, business as usual request and other service requests.
  • Develop business cases, request for proposals (RFP), request for information (RFI), waivers, evaluations and other purchasing documents for all Network and Secure remote access solutions for deliverance on the policy for these documents to be submitted for approval four (4) months in advance of the contract start date and other relevant procurement policies.
  • Maintain the 99.98% system availability, zero data loss, access to latest technologies and services in the industry ensuring the maintenance or reduction of the Opex budget in alignment with company requirements by: Implementing and validating high availability, geo-redundancy and recovery procedure for all the company’s Networks; Maintaining Data Center and Network security systems; Working with Vendors to ensure that TSTT attains the correct support services.
  • Select and implement solutions that monitor and manage network solutions, the company’s Networking routing and switching Infrastructure, Physical Networking Infrastructure in alignment with the system support strategy processes to ensure that they are operated at a maximum level of availability, productivity and efficiency e.g. minimization of system downtime to 0.02% and below.
  • Document and monitor IT Network procedures and processes including, Trouble Shooting guides, Escalation processes, Network Administration, Root Cause analysis etc. to ensure that procedures are continuously improved and the SLAs that we provide to our customers are also consistently above the requirement. Develop strategies and plans for Networks’ ‘end of life (EOL) and “End of Support life” (EOS) or for those systems nearing the ending of their life cycle as indicated by the manufacture’s reduction or cessation of support to ensure that customers services are not disrupted during the system life cycle process.
  • Develop a method of procedure documents (MOPs) associated with production control and change management process in alignment with best practice ensuring compliance with the governing change management process of Technology (ITIL) and hence ensure customer SLAs and 99.98% system availability.
  • Design solutions that take into consideration the demand planning and capacity utilization of the company’s cloud infrastructure Software Defined Networks, NSX and Data Center and Corporate Networks.
  • Research methods/standards/best practices and best in class solutions for all of the Routing and Switching, Network Security, Network Infrastructure and cloud within the corporate environment. As well as leading the design and implementation of processes and tools necessary for the monitoring, troubleshooting and management of these solutions.
  • Ensure updates and conformance to the OSH Act by contracted service providers.
  • Workplace Safety- all work is done in accordance with established safety practices and procedures.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another discipline within Science or Engineering which includes Computer Science, Programming and/or Information Management courses as part of the degree.
  • ITIL course participation, Security Training, (Certification will be an asset).
  • VMware training.
  • Networking Infrastructure Training.
  • Cisco Certification
  • ITIL Certification will be an asset
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in implementing and supporting IT Networks, WAN and WIFI with a minimum of (3) years’ experience in designing, deploying, and monitoring IT systems. Experience of this nature directly in the field of Networking and Security; A minimum of (2) years’ experience in the design and support of Cloud infrastructure.

Any relevant combination of qualifications and experience at an appropriate level to perform the required duties competently will be considered.
