VACANCY NOTICE

 POST OF SENIOR MEDICAL OFFICER

 

The Health Authority of Anguilla invites qualified and professional applicants for the position of Senior Medical Officer. To provide medical services to all patients/clients of the Health Authority of Anguilla based on generally acceptable standards.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):

 Clinical Duties

Serve as lead for the physician team in the Accident and Emergency Department for the emergency care of HAA patients/clients.

Examine, diagnose, treat and follow up patients.

Admit, visit, conduct patient assessments and discharge patients as required.

Provide technical assistance to other health care professionals in the implementation of HAA health programmes and services.

Conduct routine medical examinations and provide reports to government and non-government agencies as required.

Participate in policy development in the field of Emergency Medicine.

Participate and/or promote training programmes.

Ensure the maintenance of high standards of discipline and professional ethics.

Participate in the development and promotion of the HAA Disaster Plan and be knowledgeable of the written plan and role in the event of any disaster.

Participate in workshops, seminars, meetings and case presentations as required.

Ensure that patients/clients and families are counselled and educated regarding the medical condition, prognosis, future plan, incorporating a patient-centered approach to health care delivery.

 Perform administrative duties relevant to the Accident and Emergency Department

 Perform any other related duties as required by the job function.

 

Reports and Record Keeping

 Make referrals to specialist medical professionals as required. 

Ensure accurate, complete and timely documentation of medical findings, management and progress.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge and Ability

 The incumbent must possess well-developed theoretical and practical knowledge and

skills with knowledge of current trends in medicine, basic administrative principles and techniques.

Sound judgment, high standards of integrity and professionalism, excellent written and oral communicative skills, the ability to act efficiently and effectively, must demonstrate effective leadership and managerial skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships and the confidentiality of office. Excellent customer service skills and must be customer focused. Applicant must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.

 

Qualifications:

Medical Degree from a recognized institution with an internship at a recognized hospital. 

A Diploma in Emergency Medicine from a recognized institution

 Experience:

Three (3) years post internship experience in a similar or related job
