Senior Manager, Tax

The Senior Tax Manager, Jamaica, will be responsible for the group’s Jamaican tax compliance obligations, working closely with the group’s finance teams. The role will involve a combination of hands-on tax compliance & tax accounting, interpretation of tax law, analysis of tax-related data, and administration of related processes. This role is based at our corporate office in Montego Bay and reports to the Corporate Director, Tax.

Duties of the Position Include:

• Managing the Group’s Jamaican tax compliance obligations with specific responsibility for the income tax compliance cycle, including the year-end tax provisions
• Preparing and submitting income tax returns and ensuring payments are made on time
• Ensuring GCT returns are compliant, maintaining up-to-date templates, and working with the companies to ensure Gold TCC status
• Assisting the non-Jamaican companies with income tax compliance obligations
• Ensuring the group maintains appropriate documented tax processes.
• Assisting with the preparation and updating of transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transaction schedules
• Creating and using models to assist the business in assessing the tax implications of commercial decisions
• Carrying out and documenting tax research to support positions taken by the Group
• Being the Group’s main point of contact with Tax Administration Jamaica for day-to-day tax matters
• Assisting in providing tax training to non-tax colleagues
• Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the Group’s Financial teams, Senior Management, advisers and tax authorities
• Supporting and advising the Group’s Finance teams on tax issues, filings and payments
• Supporting the Corporate Director with planning and grouping tax matters where necessary

Qualification and Experience:

• Qualified Professional Accountant—Big 4 training preferred
• Experience and deep knowledge of the Jamaican tax system is essential, and an awareness of regional tax systems is preferred
• IAS12 knowledge essential
• Prior experience working in an in-house tax role is preferred
• Experience of the hotel industry is an advantage
• Management experience preferred
• Occasional local and infrequent overseas travel
