The Senior Instructor is responsible for supervising the administrative, commercial and academic functions of assigned sections and conduct training in assigned disciplines. This position provides mentoring, supervision, professional support and guidance for training staff and others in order to impact the quality of trainees’ preparedness for employment as well as their performance on the job.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:

ü  A Bachelor’s Degree, its equivalent NVQJ Level 5 or other equivalent qualification in your area of specialization

ü  Requires a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a comparable position in a TVET training environment, spanning industry, a vocational college and technical high school

ü  Knowledge in IT, software, equipment, machinery/tools that the job required

ü  Ability to work with colleagues to review curriculum

ü  Ability to conduct moderation and validation of formative and summative assessment items

ü  Working knowledge and experience in lesson planning, test item writing and instruction plans

ü  Problem-solving and analytical skills

ü  Accepts responsibility and accountability with focus on results

ü  Ability to monitor and manage priorities; work on multiple tasks concurrently

KEY DUTIES:

ü  Develops systems and procedures for managing and monitoring the use of resources assigned to the department

ü  Represents the Trust/Academy at meetings, conferences and other fora as requested

ü  Ensures adherence to operational procedures to promote safety, security and proper use of physical resources

ü  Provides leadership and guidance to staff through effective planning delegating, communicating, training, mentoring and coaching

ü  Conducts instructional sessions

ü  Prepares schedule for instructors

ü  Prepares & evaluates request for training materials for all the groups

ü  Participates in the procurement and distribution of training materials in keeping with established regulations, policies and procedures

ü  Participate in disciplinary hearing for trainees and staff

ü  Teaches courses in areas of specialization

ü  Works with trainees who are studying for a certificate or certification or are taking classes to improve their knowledge or career skills

ü  Works with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum for a certificate program involving a series of courses
