The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Senior ICT Technician, on contract.

The Senior ICT Technician is responsible for providing advanced technical support and maintenance for the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago’s (CATT) IT systems and infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting complex issues, performing system installations and upgrades, and ensuring the overall reliability and efficiency of the IT environment. The Senior ICT Technician will work closely with the Enterprise ICT Manager to implement IT solutions that meet the Authority's needs.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a technical support role with a focus on system administration, network management, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience with advanced IT support and infrastructure management, inclusive of Hyper V.
Desirous:
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate are preferred.
  • CCNA would be considered an asset.

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Provide advanced support for hardware, software, and network issues, including diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems.

  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting for server, workstation, and network issues to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • System Installation and Configuration.
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware and software, including servers, desktops, laptops, and network devices.
  • Ensure system configurations are optimized for performance and security.
  • Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Implement and manage network security protocols to protect against unauthorized access and threats.
  • System Maintenance and Upgrades.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, including patch management, updates, and backups.
  • Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations with minimal disruption to services.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to staff on the use of IT systems and applications.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and resources to enhance user proficiency.
  • Documentation and Reporting. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, configurations, and procedures.
  • Prepare reports on system performance, incidents, and service requests for the Enterprise ICT Manager.
  • Assist with IT projects and initiatives, including the deployment of new technologies and system enhancements.
  • Collaborate with the ICT team to ensure successful project implementation and integration.
  • Coordinate with IT vendors and service providers for support and procurement of IT equipment and services.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and software solutions based on organizational needs.
  • Represent the ICT department at meetings and other functions as required

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Enterprise ICT Manager.
