SENIOR DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT AND INNOVATION 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The University of the Commonwealth Caribbean (UCC) seeks a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Institutional Advancement and Innovation to lead transformative initiatives aimed at advancing the institution's strategic growth, fostering innovation, and enhancing community engagement. Reporting directly to the University President, this role will also oversee key departments including the Marketing and Coorporate Communications, Innovation Centre, UCC Foundation & Alumni Development, Corporate Education, and Business Development & Consulting Institute.

RESPONSIBILTIES (includes but not limited to)

Institutional Advancement:

  1. Develop and implement strategies to enhance UCC’s visibility, reputation, and influence both locally and internationally.
  2. Lead efforts to engage and strengthen relationships with alumni, donors, and key external stakeholders.
  3. Oversee fundraising initiatives and campaigns, ensuring alignment with UCC’s strategic goals and financial needs.
  4. Foster partnerships with corporate, governmental, and non-profit organizations to support UCC’s mission and strategic priorities.
  5. Collaborate with the UCC Foundation to maximize philanthropic support and resource development.

Innovation Leadership:

  1. Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Innovation Centre, driving initiatives that foster creativity, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement.
  2. Lead the development and implementation of innovative programs and projects that enhance UCC’s educational offerings and operational efficiency.
  3. Promote a culture of innovation across the university, encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge practices and technologies.
  4. Collaborate with academic and administrative units to integrate innovative solutions into curriculum development, teaching methods, and student services.

Executive/Strategic Leadership:

  1. Provide strategic guidance and support to departmental heads within the Innovation Centre, UCC Foundation & Alumni Development, Corporate Education, and Business Development & Consulting Institute.
  2. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility.
  3. Collaborate with senior leadership to align institutional advancement and innovation initiatives with UCC’s overall strategic direction.
  4. Develop and manage project budgets, financial models, and forecasts, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial sustainability.

Community Engagement and Outreach:

  1. Lead initiatives to enhance UCC’s engagement with the local and global community, industry sectors, and governmental agencies.
  2. Represent UCC on committees, boards, and forums related to economic development, community partnerships, and higher education.
  3. Promote UCC’s role in talent development, research initiatives, and community resilience through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  1. Provide inspirational leadership to a diverse team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  2. Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across academic, administrative, and support functions to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  3. Facilitate cross-functional teamwork and integration, leveraging diverse perspectives and expertise to drive strategic initiatives and achieve impactful outcomes.

Corporate Communications, PR and Marketing

  1. Develops Corporate Communication, Public Relations, and Marketing team to achieve departmental goals and effectively promote UCC's mission and objectives.
  2. Lead all communication, public relations, and marketing efforts to enhance the university's reputation and visibility.
  3. Developing comprehensive communication strategies, managing media relations, overseeing marketing initiatives for enrolment growth and brand awareness, ensuring brand consistency, providing strategic counsel to senior leadership, managing crisis communication, and fostering collaboration across departments.
  4. Plan, execute, and evaluate multi-channel marketing campaigns to promote academic programs, events, and initiatives.
  5. Develop and execute marketing strategies to support enrolment growth, brand awareness, and engagement objectives.
  6. Provides leadership for development and implementation of the University’s Marketing Plan and annual budget.
  • The Foundation’s development and operations plans.
  • The development of the Institutional Effectiveness plan and the reaffirmation plan.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, or a related field. A doctoral degree is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of ten years in senior leadership roles involving institutional advancement, innovation, and project management, preferably within higher education or related sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex projects and initiatives, with demonstrable outcomes in partnership development, economic growth, and community engagement.

Skills:

  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities with a results-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving innovation, change management, and achieving strategic objectives in a collaborative environment.
  • Commitment to integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all aspects of work.
