OBJECTIVE
The Senior Auditor – Financial Operations and Reporting:
- Engages in effective monitoring and compliance of financial management recommendation and updates for relevant departments and divisions across the Group.
- Provides reasonable assurance that financial management, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, governance and financial risk management are effective, efficient, and achieving objectives within best practices.
- Provides support in improving departmental/divisional operations and image by recommending cost effective solutions to identified deficiencies and non-conformities.
FUNCTIONS
- Conducts investigations of risk materialisations and control breakdowns and prepares formal written reports on investigation audits.
- Conducts performance, financial and compliance audits of NGC and its affiliated companies.
- Evaluates systems and controls, assesses financial risk, and the adequacy of system design to mitigate risks, including loss of life image.
- Appraises the standards of financial operations and management systems; and makes recommendations on the appropriateness of systems to ensure quality, compliance and achievement of objectives.
- Identifies and analyses causes of unprofitable and inefficient practices in process and work methods; assesses alternatives that may yield the desired results and recommends cost-effective solutions.
- Identifies and evaluates departmental/divisional risk areas and provides financial operations and reporting input to the development of the annual audit plan.
- Monitors the performance of audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analysing evidence, and documenting client processes and procedures.
- Supports Audit staff in the identification, development and documentation of audit issues and recommendations, schedules and assigns work to meet approved project deliverables in accordance with timelines and cost.
- Prepares and submits audit project plans, work programs, audit reports, for approval ensuring quality, completeness, and alignment with the Division's annual plan, auditing procedures and standards for professional practices of Internal Audit.
- Prepares formal written reports and presentations, expressing opinions on the adequacy and effectiveness of systems and activities. Recommends corrective action to improve operations and reduce costs; submits reports and delivers presentations to relevant audiences.
- Monitors and reviews action taken by management in the implementation of Audit recommendations and reports on same.
- Develops and maintains productive relationship with internal and external stakeholders through collaboration and group meetings.
- Audits current controls and performance monitoring elements to assess effectiveness of company financial operations and reporting mechanisms and collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop, implement, monitor and manage the company's compliance with internal control requirements.
- Interacts with various levels of management and staff in conducting interviews and testing internal process to assure continued compliance.
- Assists in the oversight of the management and maintenance of the policies and procedures for Risk Testing, Fraud Prevention, and Internal Controls.
- Identifies process improvements that lead to cost savings or revenue enhancement opportunities.
- Ensures that all information of confidential nature is held in a secure and confidential method.
- Ensure that all audit records and documentation are accurate and in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Executes any other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
The minimum requirements for the position are:
- BSc in Finance, Accounting, or ACCA Level III
- Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Information System Auditor, or Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner
- Five (5) years’ professional level experience in an Internal Audit Department
- Relevant experience in the oil and gas industry
