Job Description: Senior Associate – Accounting

Position Title: Senior Associate – Accounting
Location: Hybrid
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $15,000 to $20,000 (based on experience)


Role Overview:

The Senior Associate in the Accounting team will be responsible for managing accounting functions, preparing financial statements, preparing and reviewing management reports, maintaining client relationships, and supporting junior team members. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:

    • Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP.
    • Prepare management reports, providing insights into key financial metrics.
  • Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a primary point of contact for accounting queries or concerns.
    • Understand client needs and provide value-added financial insights and advice.
    • Participate in client meetings, providing professional advice on accounting matters.
  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead and mentor junior associates, providing guidance on technical accounting issues and helping them grow professionally.
    • Review and provide feedback on the work of junior staff members, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Assist in the training and development of junior team members to enhance their skills.
  • Financial Analysis:

    • Conduct financial analysis, helping clients understand their financial position and make informed decisions.
    • Prepare detailed financial reports that offer actionable insights for clients.
  • Compliance and Reporting:

    • Prepare and/or review Corporation Tax, Income Tax, and VAT Returns and any other statutory reporting as required.
  • Other Responsibilities:

    • Participate in firm-wide initiatives to improve service delivery and client satisfaction.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting procedures and methodologies.
    • Provide ad-hoc support to management on special projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • ACCA, CPA, or equivalent professional certification (or pursuing certification).
  • Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in an accounting or audit firm.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP).
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, etc.).
    • Experience in preparing financial statements and tax filings.
  • Skills and Competencies:

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Client-service orientation with a proactive approach.
