Role Overview

Pan Jamaica Group (the ‘Group’) is a Jamaica-based multinational business group which acquires and holds interests in global businesses in the areas of Specialty Food, Global Services, Property & Infrastructure and Financial Services. The Group is seeking to fill the role of Accountant who will have primary focus on the Group’s Property & Infrastructure joint venture, Rio Cobre Water Limited (‘RCWL’), among other duties. RCWL is a special purpose vehicle created to perform the construction, financing and operation of a 15-million Imperial Gallon per day water treatment plant in St. Catherine for the National Water Commission. The US $100 million project is financed by local and international financiers. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer of Rio Cobre Water Limited to manage all aspects of the project’s accounting matters. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Role

• Reporting to the CFO of Rio Cobre Water Limited:
• Perform day-to-day financial and administrative matters to ensure the smooth operation of RCWL.
• Process and record all RCWL-related financial transactions including journal entries and accounts payables and receivables transactions on the accounting system and banking platforms.
• Prepare bank and ledger reconciliations in a timely manner to ensure accurate cash flow management.
• Track costs associated with infrastructure projects and maintain a detailed fixed asset schedule.
• Prepare monthly and annual IFRS-compliant financial statements.
• File monthly GCT returns and annual corporate income tax returns of the company.
• Responsible for the smooth conduct of the year-end annual audit with the auditors.
• Provide relevant information to partners including shareholders, lenders, auditors and tax advisors to satisfy internal and external reporting requirements.

Position Specifications:

• A first degree in a relevant field.
• Relevant accounting qualification (ACCA preferred).
• Minimum of two years’ work experience in an accounting environment or one year’s audit experience.
• Knowledge of transactional accounting, financial reporting and multi-currency accounting.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized with strong time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Energetic team player with a positive attitude and ability to work on a wide range of projects.
• Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook and Power Point.
