Security Officer

The Security Officer ensures a safe environment for All staff, Customer, Clients, Guests, Contractors, Service Providers and Visitors, and protect the assets of the Facilities (Hospitality and Port Facility) while delivering service that exceeds our customers' expectations. Responsible for responding quickly to customers and staff requests and providing caring interactions with all staff and guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• To ensure the safety and security of the company’s facilities, property, guests and personnel
• To ensure adherence to security and safety policies and procedures by all personnel and guests
• To stand in for the Shift Supervisor in his/her absence

TASKS

• Courteously assist all facility users, including, employees, clients/ customers, contractors, sub-contractors, service providers and visitors with relevant information.
• Regulate both pedestrian and vehicular traffic at all facility access and exits.
• Validate and log all pedestrian and vehicle entries and exits on the prescribed logs.
• Conduct searches of vehicles persons entering and exiting the facility as required.
• Ensure that the driveways, entrances, and exits are kept clear at all times.
• Ensure that no unauthorized vehicles are parked within the facility.
• Ensure that all drivers comply with parking instructions and restrictions.
• Ensure there is no loitering of any kind on the facilities, including by Security Personnel.
• Assess and report any suspicious observations immediately including but not limited to personnel and articles.
• Monitor suspicious persons and vehicles parking at the side of the road (inform Supervisor As Soon As Possible [ASAP]).
• Prevent suspicious vehicles/persons from entering the facility.
• Provide periodic status reports to the Shift Security Supervisor or HSSE Manager during the course of the shift.
• Communicate respectfully, efficiently and effectively with all Security Personnel.
• Assists with the evacuation and accounting of personnel in the event of an emergency.
• Limit the use of electronic or other devices for non-work-related purposes while performing work duties.
• Request and obtain approval from the Shift Security Supervisor or HSSE Manager accordingly, before leaving assigned post.
• Perform all roles and functions commensurate with this essential position and any other security related work tasks involved in the operations carried out at the facilities as may be necessary.

• Maintain a safety conscious attitude at all times
• Ensure that adequate information is provided for completing tasks and seek clarification as required
• Inform supervisor of all unsafe conditions observed and the occurrence of incidents or accidents
• Securing, inspecting and using assigned PPE, tools and equipment appropriately

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of security services.
• Must be conversant with the supplemental Protective Services Act and all governmental regulations.
• Knowledge in the use of safety equipment.
• Effective communication ability: at all areas of the organization and business operations.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• 5 CXC O’Levels or equivalent including Math and English
• Security Awareness Training
• Computer Literate (including knowledge of Microsoft office)
• Must be in good physical and mental health
• Police certificate of good character
• At least 3 years experience in a similar position
