The incumbent will be required to develop and monitor a sales, distribution and merchandising plan, which enables optimum distribution, penetration, gross profit, sales, visibility, price, placement and promotion for the portfolio of brands to enhance the Company’s image as a preferred supplier in the industry and enhance our service levels.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Develop and monitor annual sales and distribution plans (budget) by brand, by sales representative, and by channel,  through effective and efficient use of resources
  • Assist with the development of monthly quotas for Sales Representatives and provide assistance in the preparation of their scheduled plans for servicing customers.
  • Ensure Monthly Net Sales, Gross Profit, Distribution and penetration objectives are achieved for each sales representative on their assigned routes
  • Develop and maintain a schedule for routine supervision of the routes assigned and provide an evaluation at the end of each route supervised, with recommendations for improvement. Approximately 80% of the time should be spent on the trade.
  • Conduct customer visits to ensure the effectiveness of services rendered by sales team and identify, investigate and initiate corrective action on issues adversely impacting sales performance.
  • Identify opportunities for sales growth with new and existing customers and develop appropriate strategies ensuring that they are executed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure new products are listed on a timely basis and develop plans to grow customer database
  • Collect feedback/information from new and existing customers/consumers on the performance of the Company’s products, and the service provided by the Sales Representatives and Merchandisers
  • Ensure the visibility of the Company’s products in the trade through signage and other promotional initiatives as directed.
  • Work closely with sales team in negotiations of incremental shelf share and secondary locations
  • Monitor and report competitive promotions or activities
  • Provide efficient customer service ensuring that strong customer relationships are fostered and maintained
  • Manage discontinued and close expiry items and authorize Credit Note processing for the customers
  • Investigate and respond to customer demands, complaints or problems in an accurate and timely manner so as to ensure the achievement of established sales objectives
  • Liaise with Marketing and Promotions teams, CSRs regarding promotions and special events to facilitate effective marketing strategy implementation and sales target achievement.
  • Participate in the development of marketing strategies for the optimization of sales and the development of new products, promotions and special events.
  • Effectively manage price schedules and discount rates with all customers
  • Review the Accounts Receivable ageing report on a regular and consistent basis to ensure they are in-line with Company policy and inform required follow up action.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned to enhance the operations of the Company.

 Knowledge, Experience and Requirement: 

  • Associate degree or equivalent qualification in Sales or Marketing, Bachelor’s degree would be an asset.
  • At least four (4) years’ experience in a similar or related position with at least three (3) years at a management level.
  • Or relevant combination of training and experience
  • Must possess a reliable, working vehicle.
