Shift Supervisor coordinates Syrup Room operations for a 12-hour shift period.
The Syrup Room Supervisor would ensure that ALL Quality SOP’s and SSOP’s are followed to ensure that all quality parameters are maintained in the manufacturing process of ALL products. The incumbent would be responsible for delegating tasks and motivating workforce as well as achieving maximum efficiency from those involved.
Duties :
Ensure all blending of syrup and juices/drinks are done are according to set protocols so that the highest quality standards are met.
Ensure that the SMJ Good Manufacturing Practices are enforced and implemented in the syrup room.
Ensure that practices and testing are in accordance with the HACCP plan for the syrup room.
Ensure all equipment are functioning properly if not provide the Preventative Maintenance Department with reports to address it.
Review all batch sheets on a daily basis to ensure blending were done to specifications – highlight problems with yield etc. to the Q.A. Manager and investigate root cause.
Ensure all daily reports, sugar etc are properly done; records are file and reviewed on a daily basis. Relate new information or changes to existing procedures are effectively communicated to all personnel.
Liaise with AX auditor to ensure all concentrates being delivered for use in blending are not expired; ensure all personnel are aware of recording this information in the batch sheets in addition to knowing the expiry date of all ingredients used on a daily basis. IN THE EVENT OF DOUBT OR IF THE DATES ARE NOT CLEAR – DO NOT USE.
Investigate any downtime associated with the syrup room and facilitate a report within 24 hours of incident, if possible include procedures that could have been used to ensure no incidents of downtime occur.
Ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed on a daily basis and especially on a weekend. Set up proper procedures in removing syrup room refuse, namely empty containers, sugar bags and pallets.
Ensure continued training for all personnel to make department efficient and day-to-day routine is not hindered because of absence and resignation.
Review and update systems and procedures especially when blending new products. The latter should be done in close conjunction with the Research and Development personnel / Q.A Manager.
Follow up on relevant incoming emails ,faxes, memos, and reports.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
· A Lab Technician Diploma from a recognized institute.
· Prior knowledge of syrup mixing and processes would be necessary.
· Supervisory training and experience is necessary.
· Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
· Two (2) years related work experience.
