JOB SUMMARY:

Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (“the Authority”) requires a suitably qualified individual to join our dynamic organisation to fill the position of:

 

SUPERINTENDENT

 

Under the direction of the Deputy General Manager, Security, the Superintendent is responsible for the leadership, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of security functions across the both Estates in Trinidad and Tobago.

 

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

  • Directing and co-ordinating the day-to-day operations of the Airports Authority Security Division (AASD) in accordance with operational plans and relevant policies.
  • Recommending and implementing comprehensive security policies, procedures, and protocols to protect the airport against security threats and risks.
  • Driving  the development  and implementation  of security  technologies,  infrastructure  and solutions  to continuously  enhance security measures at the airports and across the estates.
  • Ensuring appropriate arrangements for the effective co-ordination and supervision of security arrangements for special events.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the operations of the Security Division and inspecting Log Books, Registers, other documents, facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other regulations.
  • Ensuring the effective training and development of Security Officers with respect to civil aviation recommended standards and practices, Departmental Regulations, policies, implications of new or amended laws and techniques, and other related issues.
  • Ensuring the conduct of appropriate threat and risk assessment processes and implementation of appropriate actions to mitigate risks. Representing the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (the Authority) at high-level meetings, seminars and workshops.
  • Developing a collaborative environment among the security team and our stakeholders to foster professional relationships, aimed at solidifying good Customer Service across all areas.
  • Leading, managing, and mentoring a team, including supervisors, officers, screening agents and service providers to effectively navigate a high paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Effectively obtaining, managing and distributing resources within the Division.
  • Developing policies and procedures to ensure that the goals and objectives of the Authority are fulfilled.
  • Responding promptly and effectively to security incidents, emergencies, and crisis situations, implementing appropriate response protocols and coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with local and international law enforcement agencies, government authorities, and aviation security organisations to maintain a collaborative approach to security.
  • Managing the budget for security operations, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Providing regular reports and updates on security performance, incidents, and initiatives to senior management and regulatory authorities. Performing other duties related to job function which may be assigned from time to time.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS,  EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Security Administration, Security Management, Criminal Justice, Aviation Management or related field from a recognized academic institution.
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.

 

KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience at a managerial level in a security field. Specific experience in aviation security would be an asset. Extensive knowledge in the fields of Aviation Security and Law Enforcement
  • Extensive knowledge of the Regulations governing Civil Aviation made by International Bodies e.g.: International Civil Aviation Organisation, Transportation Security Administration and Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority
  • Working knowledge of National Disaster Response Plans and
  • Evacuation Procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in investigation of complex matters, file preparation and Court Procedure
  • Working knowledge of the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago which specifically includes the Supplemental Police Act Chapter 15:02
  • Training and knowledge of Industrial Relations and Human
  • Resource Management.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be able to think and work at a strategic level
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively lead and motivate a large cross functional team comprised of various security roles and functions
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage complex security situations with tact and diplomacy. Experience working with security technology systems, such as CCTV, access control systems, and biometric screening technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess security risks and develop effective mitigation strategies. Must be familiar with the contents of ICAO Annex 17 and related Annexes and relevant Standard Operating Procedures related to the Aviation Industry.
  • Must be able to develop policies and procedures to support national plans relating to national emergencies and emergency situations at the Airports of Trinidad and Tobago
  • Is responsible for procuring and distributing the necessary equipment for use by the Security Division
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of discipline and professionalism within the team
  • Ability to coordinate the Authority’s business continuity strategies
