SENIOR TAX MANAGER
The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for the group’s Jamaican tax compliance obligations, working closely with the group’s finance teams. The role will involve a combination of hands-on tax compliance & tax accounting, interpretation of tax law, analysis of tax-related data, and administration of our tax-related processes. This role is based at our corporate office in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and reports to the corporate director, Tax.
Specific requirements/duties of the position include:
- Managing the Group’s Jamaican tax compliance obligations with specific responsibility for the income tax compliance cycle, including the year-end tax provisions
- Preparing and submitting income tax returns and ensuring payments are made on time
- Ensuring GCT returns are compliant, maintaining up-to-date templates, and working with the companies to ensure Gold TCC status
- Assisting the non-Jamaican companies with income tax compliance obligations
- Ensuring the group maintains appropriate documented tax processes.
- Assisting with the preparation and updating of transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transaction schedules
- Creating and using models to assist the business in assessing the tax implications of commercial decisions
- Carrying out and documenting tax research to support positions taken by the Group
- Being the Group’s main point of contact with Tax Administration Jamaica for day-to-day tax matters
- Assisting in providing tax training to non-tax colleagues
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the Group’s Financial teams, Senior Management, advisers and tax authorities
- Supporting and advising the Group’s Finance teams on tax issues, filings and payments
Supporting the Corporate Director with planning and grouping tax matters where necessary
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Professional Accountant—Big 4 training preferred
- Experience and deep knowledge of the Jamaican tax system is essential, and an awareness of regional tax systems is preferred
- IAS12 knowledge essential
- Prior experience working in an in-house tax role is preferred
- Experience of the hotel industry is an advantage
- Management experience preferred
- Occasional local and infrequent overseas travel
