To play a major role in the effective operations of JMMB’s network infrastructure to ensure that the integrity and availability of the network is maintained.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Manage, maintain, monitor and deploy local and remote hardware, as well as software to facilitate the business operations of the JMMB Group and its subsidiaries throughout Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and other regions where JMMB has established offices. Infrastructure includes (LAN/WAN) Networks, Virtualized Server Infrastructure, Email infrastructure, Databases and Applications, ETM network, SAN and PBX.
  • Support local data centers on-site and remotely to manage and maintain lab and production network equipment.  This includes performing work physically in the data center when on-site hands are required.
  • Deploy, install, and configure hardware such as firewalls, switches, routers, load balancers, IPS, network monitoring systems and other network security related products.
  • Develop and maintain documented backup, restoration and disaster recovery procedures for all network infrastructure, and conducts routine Disaster Recovery excercises on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that records of system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair are properly maintained.
  • Document network configuration, including maintenance jobs to run, replication and defined parameters and submit for review.
  • Provide, or monitor to ensure that the contractor provides, the End-User/Team Members with a basic introduction to the new hardware or software, upon installation, based on standard agreed with immediate supervisor or the provider’s guidelines
  • Works to ensure that network and PBX systems remain operational and are a reliable support for the Company’s operations, as well as its public image, through:
  1. Plan and execute, or liaise with Contractors as required, for proactive maintenance work so as to prevent network and PBX breakdowns.
  2. Monitor network performance for optimal operation.
  3. Identify and resolve network problems.
  4. Analyse and determine priority of problems and requests according to severity of impact on the company.
  5. Advise Users of the level of priority given to their respective problems.
  6. Capacity Planning to ensure scope for future growth
  • Monitor and analyse the resource usage of the network, printers and technical resources.
  • Generate and submit a report on the usage, monthly (e.g. Hours of use, Dept with highest usage).
  • Keep abreast of up-grades available, test their validity for the JMMB environment.
  • Make recommendations for changes so as to optimise resource usage and performance.
  • Accept calls directly and/or liaise with Help Desk to assist in responding to problems reported.
  • Provide User support for technical issues, in any aspect of the hardware, network or server infrastructure, including troubleshooting to solve problems, and diagnosing problems so as to advise system assigned Contractors.
  • Analyse existing hardware, network or server performance, functions and features and design solutions for problems found, as needed.
  • Write and submit for approval, justification for any purchase, modification or termination being recommended.
  • Provide business information, technical support and/or physical assistance to facilitate the work of Contractors, as assigned.
  • Monitor, evaluate and verify the work of contractors ensuring that Users’ requirements and JMMB’s standards are being met, prior to completion, for the assigned portfolio.
  • Monitor service level agreements with Users and make recommendations for change, as necessary.
  • Escalates cases to the Group Technical Service Manager, as required.
  • Provides relevant analysis of the data for the assigned portfolio to assist with the preparation of the Management and Board Reports, monthly
  • Assists in the planning and budgeting process of the department, as required.
  • Analyses current policies and methods of operations for quality, efficiency, cost and regulatory considerations, in order to identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement of the department.
  • Performs any other duties which may be assigned from time to time

 

  EDUCATION, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

  • MSc in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Certified CCNP
  • Advanced knowledge with Fortinet FortiGate, FortiSwitch, Forti Manager & FortiAnalyzer
  • Advanced knowledge in the following areas: WAN, LAN, Switching, and IP addressing, Routing Protocols, Firewalls, IPSec VPN tunnels and network/data security
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF)
  • Ability to research and analyse system performance challenges and recommend solutions.
  • Experience with Forescout and/or Cisco ISE
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki switches and Wifi
  • Familiarity with network analysis tools such as SolarWind
  • Familiarity with COBIT, ITIL standards would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with financial sector instruments, laws, regulations, ethics and professional jargon.
  • Minimum of eight years’ experience in Information Technology, including network administration, preferably in a financial environment.
