SECURITY PERSONNEL

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining access control to ensure no unauthorized access is gained at the Corporation’s facilities.

Applications are invited from nationals of Trinidad and Tobago for “Security Personnel” at the Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation Limited (PLIPDECO). 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Responsible for maintaining access control to ensure no unauthorized access is gained at the Corporation’s facilities.
• Accountable for verifying visitors to the compound to preserve order and protect property.
• Ensures pedestrian and vehicular traffic flows are orderly at all posts.
• Participates in patrols at duty locations to proactively mitigate any security risks in addition to deterring and detecting crime.
• Accurately documents all incidents and irregularities such as property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences and submits to Supervisor in a prompt manner.
• Assists with investigations and reports on all suspicious activity at Corporate and tenant locations.
• Enter records, stores or maintains information in written or electronic format in keeping with the requirements of the Corporation.
• Ensures the International Ship and Port Facility Code (2004) is complied with by all port users.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Working for an extended period of time in the external environment and may experience extreme environmental conditions e.g. sun and rain.
• Working for an extended period of time in a standing position.
• Working in a fast paced, high intensity environment.
• Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body such as for climbing, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education and Training

• Three (3) CXC / GCE subjects, Grades I, II and III (1998) of which one (1) must be English Language.
• The following would be considered an asset:
  • ISPS Certification.
  • First Responder Training.
  • Tertiary Level Education.
  • Self Defence Certificate. 

Experience

• Three (3) to five (5) years working experience in a security environment.

KNOWLEDGE:

• Knowledge in Port and Industrial Security, Laws of Trinidad and Tobago; Maritime Laws; Fundamentals of Access Controls; Supplemental Police Act.  Principles and practices for providing excellent Customer Service.

SKILLS:

• Crowd Control Techniques, Stop and Search Protocols, Interpersonal Skills; Problem Solving, Report Writing and Verbal Communication.

ABILITY:

• Ability to deal with external customers in a professional manner.
• Ability to stand for long hours at various work stations.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

• Must be a current holder of a Precept.
• Valid Driver’s Permit.
• Computer Literacy Certification.
• Certificate of Character dated within six (6) months.
• Defensive Driving Certification would be an asset.

REQUIRED TESTING:

• Pre-Employment Medical
• Physical Drill
• Practical Assessments using a computer
• Psychometric Testing
