The incumbent is required to ensure no unauthorized access occurs as well as moderate both Pedestrian & Vehicular traffic. The Officer will be required to protect personnel, property and information on the Port and the Point Lisas Industrial Estate.
Applications are invited from nationals of Trinidad and Tobago for “Security Officer” at the Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation Limited (PLIPDECO).
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in maintaining access control to ensure no unauthorized access is gained at the Corporation’s facilities.
- Participates in patrols at duty locations to proactively mitigate any security risks in addition to deterring and detecting crime.
- Writes reports of all incidents and irregularities such as property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences and submits to Line Supervisor in an accurate and prompt manner.
- Cautions employees and visitors of rule infractions or violations, and apprehends violators as necessary.
- Drives motor vehicles to transport individuals to specified locations or to provide escort services as required.
- Assists with entering records, stores or maintains information in written or electronic format in keeping with the requirements of the Corporation.
- Ensures the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (2004) is complied with by all port users.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Three (3) CXC / GCE subjects, Grades I, II and III (1998) of which one (1) must be English Language.
- Three (3) years working experience in a security environment.
- Any suitable combination of qualifications and experience.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:
- Valid Driver’s Permit.
- Computer Literacy Certification.
- Certificate of Character dated within six (6) months.
- Defensive Driving Certification would be an asset.
REQUIRED TESTING:
- Pre-Employment Medical Screening.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body such as for climbing, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of Port and Industrial Security Laws of Trinidad and Tobago, Maritime Laws, Fundamentals of Access Control Supplemental Police Act. Principles and practices for providing excellent Customer Service.
SKILLS:
Communication Skills, Multi-Tasking Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Crowd Control techniques, Stop and Search protocols, Report Writing Skills.
ABILITY:
Ability to deal with external customers in a satisfactory manner. Ability to work on your own without supervision; Problem identification, Proactive and Team Player, Ability to stand for long hours.
