Cook, Kitchen Technician, A/C Technician

Cook

The successful candidate will play a key role in enabling us to provide our 5 Star Global Gourmet™ cuisine to all our guests. He or She will work in the kitchen to assist the executive and sous chef with their daily tasks.

Specific Requirements/Duties of the Position Include:

• Providing guidance to entry level cooks and assisting with on-the-job training.
• Prepping workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
• Preparing necessary ingredients (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc.)
• Keeping work area, equipment and tools in immaculate condition.
• Ensuring great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served.
• Maintaining a sanitary  and orderly environment in the kitchen. 

Qualifications and Experience: 

• High School Leaving Certificate/Diploma
• Completion of apprenticeship/certification in culinary training from a vocational institute.
• Food Handler’s Permit
• Three (3) years’ experience working in a 4 or 5-star hotel, restaurant or high-volume food service facility.

 Kitchen Technician 

The Kitchen Technician is responsible for conducting preventative and corrective maintenance on commercial kitchen equipment. The successful candidate will troubleshoot and repair a variety of gas and electrical commercial cooking and refrigeration  equipment. 

Specific Requirements/Duties of the Position Include:

• Assisting in training operators of kitchen equipment regarding usage, cleaning and operating precautions to prevent injury to staff and damage to equipment.
• Performing daily inspection and maintenance of kitchen and other gas-operated equipment and making  necessary adjustments and repairs.
• Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs to kitchen equipment according to preventative maintenance schedule and manufacturers’ guidelines.
• Maintaining service records of equipment and machinery.
• Working in conjunction with Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, Food and Beverage Manager to ensure that F&B team members are properly trained on the correct use and cleaning of equipment.

 Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum High School Leaving Certificate/Diploma
• Certificate from recognised Tertiary and/or Vocational Training Institution
• Skill level and/or Technical Competence equivalent to at least Level III HEART Trust NTA certification
• Ability to satisfy Sandals Engineering Technical Competencies.
• Previous experience in similar role or related field

A/C Technician

Air-conditioning technicians are responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air-conditioning equipment.

Specific Requirements/Duties of the Position Include:

• Imparting technical knowledge and skills to junior service technicians.
• Inspecting A/C and refrigeration equipment daily to ensure proper functioning.
• Performing preventative maintenance work on A/C and refrigeration equipment as per maintenance schedule and manufacturers’ specs.
• Responding promptly to emergency breakdown of A/C and refrigeration equipment & systems.
• Checking ice machines and refrigerators for proper operation and temperature. 

Qualifications and Experience:

• Minimum High School Leaving Certificate/Diploma.
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in HVAC&R.
• Certificate from recognised Tertiary and/or Vocational Training Institution.
• Ability to satisfy Sandals Engineering Technical Competencies.
