POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent is responsible for driving business growth by identifying, developing, and potentially closing new revenue and profit streams, creating long term value for the organization from existing and new customers, markets, and relationships.

The Business Development Officer must be dynamic and results-oriented with a focus on ABB Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) sales. The candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, establishing strong relationships with clients, and achieving sales targets for ABB UPS product Line. This role requires a deep understanding of the power protection industry, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of driving revenue growth.

 

 

FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
  • Create a sales strategy based on market research and sales data.
  • Develop a network of contacts to attract new clients, research new market opportunities and oversee growth projects, making sales projections and forecasting revenue, in line with projected income.
  • Identify new business opportunities and ideas so as to increase the annual revenue of the Division.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential customer, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Analyze customer needs and preferences to tailor ABB UPS solutions accordingly.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to promote ABB UPS products in the target market.
  • Collaborate with the team to define target segments, customer profiles, and value propositions.
  • Monitor sales metrics and provide regular reports on progress towards targets.
  • Provide superior customer service for client accounts; handle client questions, email and telephone requests and concerns in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for the performance and development of the Sales Representatives.
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding performance.
  • Creates and conducts proposal presentations.
  • Maintains contact with all clients in the market area to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees.
  • Ability to monitor preferences of your customer base as well as inventory management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and suppliers.
  • Analyze and control expenditures of department to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Prepare periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations explaining products or services to existing and prospective customers.
  • Collaborate with affiliated team to understand customer requirements.
  • Secure and renew orders.
  • Assist clients solve problems with installed equipment.
  • Assist in researching and developing new products.
  • Assist in preparing high level quotes as required.          
  • Ensure orders are routed and delivered on time, while ensuring clients are communicated to in an effective & efficient means.
  • Create reports based on sales data at regular intervals and present the data in a way that helps senior management make clear decisions.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certification in Sales will be an asset.
  • Masters Degree in Business will be an asset.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in Business Development.
  • Experience in selling solutions to Commercial, Industrial and Construction Sectors will be an asset.

  • Ability to negotiate and influence clients so as to achieve positive outcomes
  • Must have the ability to work or respond to clients on weekends, public holidays and after hours as required.
