The Risk Officer is responsible providing effective and efficient monitoring and assessments for assigned credit unions.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:-

The Risk Officer is responsible providing effective and efficient monitoring and assessments for assigned credit unions. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting routine onsite and offsite credit union evaluations in accordance with protocols and standards and analyzing data to guarantee compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.

The Risk Officer will be responsible for:-
  1. Analyzing credit union financial records on a monthly and periodic basis, and making recommendations for ways to assure optimal financial performance.
  2. Developing and conducting training programs for credit unions to mitigate non-compliance to procedures and standards.
  3. Contributing to the completion of credit union evaluation reports.
  4. Providing sound guidance to credit unions on operational issues and ERM Framework to improve performance.
 
Qualifications and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management Studies, or equivalent qualification from an accredited tertiary educational institution.
  2. Three (3) years’ related experience.
 
Knowledge, Skills, Competences, and Personal Attributes:-
  1. Sound knowledge of Risk Management Principles, Methodologies, and Techniques.
  2. Ability to interpret financial statements.
  3. Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards governing the Financial Industry.
  4. Working knowledge of Strategic Planning methodology, Asset Liability Management, and Credit Risk Assessment.
  5. Exposure to auditing principles and practices.
  6. Strong analytical skills and sound judgement.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  8. Proficient in public speaking and presentation skills.
  9. Demonstrated job commitment and personal flexibility to meet changing expectations. 
Special Conditions Associated with the Job:-
  1. Must own a reliable motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s licence.
  2. Travel in and outside of the corporate area.
  3. May be required to work beyond normal working days/hours.
