We are seeking a Risk & Compliance Officer to support the development, implementation, and management of the company's Enterprise Risk Management Programme, ensuring effective risk mitigation and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of                                   Risk & Compliance Officer

Reporting to the Enterprise Risk Manager, the Risk & Compliance Officer will be responsible for assisting with designing, developing, implementing and managing the Commissions’ Enterprise Risk Management Programme. The officer will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, evaluating and assisting with mitigating the Commission’s Operational and Strategic Risks.

OTHER Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitoring the business’ compliance to the insurance policy and reporting noncompliance.
  • Liaising with the Insurance Companies for the efficient execution of claims;
  • Supporting the development/changes in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework for the identification, update and monitoring of new and existing risks;
  • Monitoring and reporting on the business’ compliance of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, identifying gaps and delays in proactive/remedial actions to reduce eliminate the exposure.
  • Ensuring that documents are received timely from the Broker for the renewal of General Insurance and the Actuary is engaged to evaluate it;
  • Processing vouchers for annual payment of premiums;
  • Assisting with the monitoring, submission and preparation of the insurance tender;
  • Ensuring there is efficient filing of documents and maintenance of claims schedule (both from the insurance company and internally processed cases) to reflect all claims received and processed;
  • Ensuring notification of incident/accident (both from the public and employee related) are timely reported to the broker;
  • Monitoring and effectively managing those claims that are not finalized both from the insurance company and internally processed towards timely completion;
  • Collecting, processing and monitoring all third party claims to include those submitted by the employees. Ensuring that the claims are timely reported to the insurance company. For those handled internally, that due process is followed for processing of the claims.

Ideally, the successful applicant should possess:

  • Associate Degree/Diploma in Business/Management or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution;
  • Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management;
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Risk Management or Auditing;
  • Thorough knowledge of Claims Management, Disaster Management and Recovery Planning;
  • Knowledge of the ISO 31000:2009, Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines, ISO 22301 and Business Continuity Management;
  • Thorough knowledge of all classes of General Insurance and internal self-insurance mechanism;
  • Excellent analytical, negotiating, problem-solving, and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion;
  • Proficiency in the use of relevant computer applications.
