JOB AIM
The Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA) is seeking a suitably qualified individual to fill the role of Response Technician. The Response Technician will be responsible for responding to vehicle breakdowns, securing members' vehicles and ensuring that our members' safety is priority.
Contract Type: Fixed-Term
Key Responsibilities
Respond to roadside assistance calls
Secure the member’s vehicle
Submit request to dispatch unit for a wrecker (at member’s request)
Utilize the most reliable equipment for breakdown
Be equipped with the appropriate safety gear and equipment
Request transportation to the nearest medical facility (at member’s request)
Secure all valuables found in the member’s vehicle
Photograph the scene and the damaged areas of the vehicle(s)
Take photographs of the Motor Vehicle Certificates of Fitness and Registration
Take photographs of the Driver’s Licences of all driver’s involved
Take photographs of Insurance Cover Notes /Certificates for all vehicles involved
Minimum Qualification and Experience
At least six (6) CSEC subject including math and english
At least one (1) year of roadside assistance or automotive experience
Valid Driver’s License
First Aid and CPR Certification would be a plus
Basic automotive technical knowledge or certification in vehicle maintenance is an advantage
Work Conditions
Required to work on weekends
Required to rotate and work night shift
Disireable Skills and Attributes
Ability to carefully document the scene and verify important documents (e.g., driver's licenses, insurance certificates).
Excellent verbal communication for coordinating with dispatch units, members, and external services like medical transportation.
Ability to assess the breakdown situation quickly and provide the appropriate assistance in a calm, efficient manner.
Familiarity with vehicle mechanics and breakdown equipment to provide basic assistance at the scene.
A strong sense of empathy and professionalism in dealing with members during stressful breakdown situations.
Effectively manage time to ensure prompt and reliable assistance to members.
