Research and Outreach Coordinator

This position is established to provide leadership to the research and outreach functions of the Faculty in relation to the strategic goals and objectives of the college

1. Develop, implement and coordinate research and outreach activities for the faculty
2.  Generate research and outreach proposals in consultation with the Dean and Heads of Department and in collaboration with members of the faculty
3.  Develop, within financial guidelines, an annual budget for research and outreach based on plans and objectives of the faculty
4.  Identify appropriate funding agencies for specific research projects and collaborate with faculty members to write and submit grants
5.  Manage research funds and resources in accordance with the College’s policies and regulations
6. Develop and implement criteria for evaluating research and outreach activities of the faculty
7.  Monitor the implementation and progress of research and outreach projects of the faculty using established criteria

   Educational Requirements/Training and Experience:

    

   • Masters degree in Agriculture or Science or Education Research or in a

      Technical area of the subject or a related field

   • Five [5] years experience in the given research field with an average productivity of a least one [1] paper published per year in Peer-reviewed journals
   • Proven track record of Research and Development
   • Teacher certification with at least three [3] years teaching experience

    

   Specific Knowledge Required:

    Knowledge of tertiary educational institutions in the region and their relevant

        programmes

   • Ability to plan, implement, and coordinate inter-disciplinary programmes

        effectively

   • Knowledge of new trends and developments in research and outreach
   • Experience with teaching several subject areas in the related field
   • Ability to provide leadership for relevant programmes in research and outreach
   • Competence in applying relevant Information and Communication Technologies to research problems
   • Ability to write grants and proposals and secure external funding

   Special Skills/Competency Required:

    Excellent oral and written communication skills

   • Fluency in a foreign language
   • Adequate computing skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
   • Knowledge of relevant local and international Copyrighting laws
   • Competency in experimental design and data analysis
   • Good interpersonal skills
   • Ability to relate effectively with employees and students at all levels of the organization
