About the role

The Manager, Regulatory Affairs assists with the identification and containment of regulatory risks, enhancing regulatory monitoring and fostering a regulatory compliance culture within the Bank on matters relating to the regional prudential banking regulators and tax authorities. The incumbent supports the oversight of the Bank’s taxation and regulatory affairs identifying, measuring, evaluating, monitoring, and controlling or mitigating taxation and regulatory risks, and advises the business, senior management and the Board of breaches, potential breaches and changes / recent developments in the region’s tax and banking regulatory supervision framework. The Manager assists in reviewing draft bills and guidelines, management of on-site examinations and tax audits, obtaining regulatory approvals / no-objections and providing regulatory notifications, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure risk focused and other statutory / regulatory / tax filings are completed within deadlines.


About success

  • Collaborates with stakeholders for financial statements and management reports, attestations, Board of Directors annual certification, recovery plans, internal audit’s annual certification, risk focused documents /reports, letters of comfort, internal audit reports, policies and tax returns being filed with the regional regulators to ensure that the Bank’s statutory obligations are filed with the regional regulators and tax authorities in accordance with the stipulated submission timelines within the applicable laws and regulations, evidenced by maintaining a log.
  • Prepares & monitors prudential limits, large exposure compliance monitoring reports, liquidity requirement compliance and impaired assets classification & provisioning requirements monitoring and escalates in the event of non-compliance to determine whether the Bank and its subsidiaries are compliant with statutory filings and prudential limits / requirements.


About you

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in banking and accounting or central bank / financial services commission supervision.
  • Prior experience in data analysis.
  • Developed knowledge in regulatory affairs.
  • Good & current knowledge of regional regulatory framework, with ability to understand and interpret banking rules / requirements, and tax filing requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Good knowledge of risk management principles, with the ability to identify regulatory risk, measure and monitor to ensure that the Bank maintains compliance in all its regulatory obligations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, banking, or finance.
